Warm gift from India

The 35-tonne consignment arrived at Noi Bai International Airport on the night of September 15, 2024, via an Indian Army aircraft. The relief supplies include essential items such as water purifiers, blankets, mosquito nets, kitchenware, water tanks, buckets with taps, and solar lamps based on the needs of the affected communities and recommendations from the authorities.

A few days ago, on behalf of the Government and people of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and solidarity to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also expressed his condolences to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son over the loss and damage caused by the storm.

The Government of India has affirmed that the humanitarian assistance to Vietnam is a testament to the strong and longstanding relationship between the two countries, marked by the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Operation Sadbhav (Goodwill) is part of India’s efforts to contribute to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief in the ASEAN region, in line with India’s long-standing “Act East Policy”.

The Indian Ambassador to Vietnam presented relief goods to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and representatives of Tuyen Quang province. On this occasion, the Ambassador also conveyed the warm feelings of the Indian people towards those affected by Cyclone Yagi. He also said that Indian businesses and the Indian community in Vietnam have joined hands to support the Vietnamese people at various levels.
