Investing in new parks and walking gardens
The sidewalk along the Chuc Dong canal (Hoa Phu 7 residential area, Lien Chieu district) was once abandoned and overgrown with grass, but has now been transformed into a park of more than 400 square meters. The project includes a garden, trees, flower beds, stone benches, exercise equipment and a children's playground. Mr. Pham Hoa (resident group 73) shared: "In the morning, I often come here to exercise and breathe fresh air. In the afternoon, the children have a safe place to play. Since the park was completed, the living environment has improved significantly, and community activities have become more vibrant."
According to Mr. Tan Thanh Dung, Head of the Hoa Phu 7 Residential Area Front Committee, the funding for the park construction comes from socialized sources, in which Mr. Dung and Ms. Sang's families contributed 100 million VND; residents in the group contributed nearly 30 million VND. "This is a pilot project, we will continue to mobilize resources to expand the model to other residential groups," said Mr. Dung.
In Hoa Vang district, the park along the Quang Xuong-Tuy Loan 1 route (Hoa Phong commune) is being completed. The project is worth VND400 million, of which the people contributed nearly VND210 million. “The goal is to create a community space, encourage people to exercise and improve the quality of life,” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Ba Tam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Phong commune.
Similarly, a land area of over 2,800m² in Hoa Chau commune is also being planned to become a park under the motto of state investment in infrastructure, mobilizing social resources to plant trees and install sports equipment. This project is associated with the project of planting 1 billion trees in the period of 2021-2025, aiming to promote the tradition of tree planting and raise awareness of environmental protection.
Priority park development
According to the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department of Hoa Vang district, the District People's Committee has made a list of 91 locations of parks and walking gardens according to the approved planning in the district with a total area of over 66 hectares; at the same time, it has proposed 46 new planning locations with an area of over 33 hectares, sent to the Department of Construction for synthesis, and reported to the City People's Committee to issue a decision on the list of locations of parks and walking gardens in the city.
The district focuses on preparing for investment in urban parks and walking gardens in the three communes of Hoa Phong, Hoa Chau, and Hoa Son; coordinating with the City's Priority Infrastructure Project Management Board to establish an investment policy for the district's central cultural park. At the same time, directing departments and branches to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes to carry out investment in 6 parks and walking gardens using the district budget in the communes of Hoa Lien, Hoa Phuoc, Hoa Tien, Hoa Chau, Hoa Nhon, and Hoa Khuong.
According to the Department of Construction, the city has made great strides in developing green spaces through investment in parks and walking gardens. In the city, there are currently 258 park and walking garden projects with a total area of 4,016,516m2 planned by the People's Committees of districts and towns, and investment and construction procedures have been and are being implemented. Of these, 168 projects have been invested, 28 projects are being invested and 62 projects have not been invested.
The investment in parks and walking gardens is proactively invested by the People's Committees of districts and towns from the annual management capital. At the same time, based on the proposals of the units, from 2021-2024, the City People's Committee has allocated a budget of nearly 500 billion VND to invest in nearly 70 projects and works of parks and walking gardens in the area. In addition to the investment capital from the state budget, the investment in green parks and walking gardens is also mobilized from socialized sources for implementation, contributing to raising awareness among people and businesses, contributing to protecting the environment and landscape in the whole city.
According to the Department of Construction, in the coming time, the city will continue to promote the construction and renovation of parks and walking gardens; increase socialization to mobilize more resources to develop green spaces, improve the quality of life for people, and soon bring Da Nang to the goal of becoming a green, clean, beautiful, civilized and modern city.
