Expanding the area of ​​winter crop production linkage

In recent years, the winter crop has become one of the important income-generating crops for farmers. To achieve this result, the agricultural sector and localities have actively encouraged and supported people to switch to crops with high economic value. In addition, the expansion of acreage for crops with stable consumption markets is also prioritized, with the aim of promoting domestic consumption and processing of products, thereby increasing the economic value of winter crop production.

In order to achieve the goal of expanding the area of ​​high-value crops under the direction of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ha Trung district has planned to plant 1,050 hectares of winter crops this year; of which, about 460 hectares of crops are linked to production, with 300 hectares being reserved for corn and the remaining 160 hectares for potatoes and sweet potatoes. To achieve this goal, especially for the area of ​​crops with consumption contracts, the district has directed communes, towns and agricultural service cooperatives to connect with businesses that have cooperated in purchasing in previous crops, and at the same time seek new partners, to ensure stable and sustainable consumption of products. Currently, some crops such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, green onions, cucumbers and sweet corn have received commitments from businesses on product consumption. The district also encourages farmers to expand the area of ​​crops for processing and with good consumption potential in the domestic market.

To expand the crop production area for the 2024-2025 winter crop, Ha Trung district has effectively implemented policies to encourage the development of the province's crop industry. These policies include encouraging land accumulation, supporting winter crop production, developing existing production chains and expanding new chains. The district also focuses on market surveys and forecasts to guide farmers in adjusting their production plans to suit their needs to limit price losses during harvest. In addition, the district also creates conditions for businesses to lease land and connect with farmers through agricultural service cooperatives; at the same time, it prioritizes investment in safe agricultural production. Thanks to that, this winter crop, the district has expanded many production linkage areas with products such as 200ha of corn, 50ha of chili for export, 60ha of sweet potatoes, 30ha of cucumbers, 50ha of green onions, etc.

Along with some other localities in the province, Hau Loc is also a district that has achieved many positive results in linking winter crop production, with 200 hectares of corn, 80 hectares of potatoes, 40 hectares of chili and 25 hectares of cucumbers successfully linked. To achieve this result, the district has regularly organized seminars and training sessions to raise awareness and production skills for farmers, helping them understand the benefits of linking production. In particular, promoting the signing of contracts between agricultural cooperatives and consumer enterprises to ensure stable output for the district's key winter crop products. In addition, the district also supports the provision of quality crop varieties suitable for local climatic conditions; instructing farmers on modern farming techniques, applying high technology to production. At the same time, strengthen promotional activities and build brands for winter agricultural products of the district, helping products increase their connectivity and easily access both domestic and foreign markets.

These crops aim to increase value and compensate for the uncultivated area. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen product consumption linkages, especially in the context of weather in the northern provinces affecting winter crop production. This is both a challenge and an opportunity to develop cold-loving winter crops throughout the province in the coming time.

In addition, the province is also implementing solutions to expand the area of ​​crops linked to production to increase economic value, including inviting businesses to invest in production, building sustainable linkage chains and contract production to meet market demand, while focusing on building brands and promoting products. Relevant units are also proactively seeking solutions to overcome difficulties, reviewing market demand, identifying advantageous products to develop reasonable production, in order to minimize the surplus of agricultural products causing difficulties for farmers.
