At around 7:15 p.m. on November 26 (local time), President Vo Van Thuong and his wife arrived at Haneda International Airport in Tokyo, beginning an official visit to Japan from November 27 to 30 at the invitation of the Japanese government. This is President Vo Van Thuong's first visit to Japan as head of state, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973 - 2023).
According to Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, the President's visit to Japan this time is an important highlight on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. "The visit will bring the relationship between the two countries to a new level through promoting more substantive and effective cooperation in all areas, from politics, economics, trade, investment, defense - security to local cooperation, people-to-people exchange; at the same time expanding to new areas of cooperation, in line with the interests of both sides," Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, the President's visit contributes to strengthening political trust, enhancing close exchanges and interactions between senior leaders of the two countries. He said that with the President's visit this time, all four senior leaders of Vietnam have exchanged and met with Japanese leaders in 2023. In addition, in the context of the rapidly evolving and complicated international and regional situation, the visit is an affirmation of Vietnam 's foreign policy of continuing to consider Japan as a leading and long-term important partner, wishing to work with Japan to promote common interests for the development of each country as well as in maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, cooperation between Vietnam and Japan "is in the best and most intimate period in history, bearing fruit and achieving great achievements in all fields". The two countries always consider each other as reliable partners, closely linked in many fields of politics, security - defense, economy, culture, education - training, tourism, human resource cooperation..., in which economic cooperation is a bright spot with many outstanding achievements.
Believing that this visit will open a new page for bilateral cooperation, Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that the President's visit will contribute to deepening the Vietnam -Japan friendly cooperation. In addition, continuing to build economic cooperation as the main pillar of the bilateral relationship through strengthening cooperation in investment, ODA, trade, labor, human resource training... thereby helping Vietnam realize three strategic breakthroughs, industrialization, modernization, building an independent, self-reliant economy, and comprehensive and deep international integration.
Vietnam hopes that the two countries will effectively implement the new generation ODA program, continue to promote cooperation in attracting Japanese ODA loans in the fields of infrastructure, climate change response, and human resource training; promote investment cooperation, attract new generation, high-quality investment capital from Japanese enterprises; continue to maintain the sustainable growth momentum of bilateral trade turnover; coordinate to improve efficiency, take advantage of and implement economic agreements between the two sides or of which both countries are members; strengthen labor cooperation, human resource training, especially high-quality human resources, etc.
In addition, the President's visit will also promote cooperation in new areas such as information technology, innovation, green transformation, digital transformation, climate change response, etc. Strengthen and deepen local cooperation, tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and affection between the Vietnamese and Japanese people, helping to build a solid foundation for effective cooperation in all fields between the two countries. At the same time, strengthen close coordination at multilateral forums, international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, APEC, ASEAN, Mekong, etc.
