Strawberry, OpenAI's upcoming AI model, was expected to be released in the fall. But now, a new report suggests that the launch of the new chatbot may be sooner than expected and it could be officially released within the next two weeks, Phone Arena reports.
Strawberry stands out from other AI models because it focuses on reasoning-based responses. Conversational AI models typically respond instantly, but Strawberry is set to “think” for about 10-20 seconds before providing an answer.
This delay would allow AI to approach query sources methodically and reduce the likelihood of errors. It could also improve AI performance on tasks that require complex reasoning or multiple steps. This improvement could make the new general AI model excel at solving math problems, coding, and even creating detailed marketing strategies for businesses.
The two have reportedly tested the model and say it will be integrated into the ChatGPT platform but as a standalone option, with no specifics on how it will be made available yet, most likely users will be able to choose Strawberry from the list of AI models in the ChatGPT service.
Of course, no technology is perfect, and Strawberry has its limitations. At launch, it will be text-only and will lack some of the multimedia capabilities of other AIs, like text and image processing. It will sometimes consider multiple reference sources and can take too long to respond to simple things.
Strawberry is also said to be able to remember previous conversations for more personalized responses, but there were some inconsistencies with that that were noticed during testing.
Pricing will also differ from the current ChatGPT model, which is free and subscription-based. Strawberry may have limits on the number of messages users can send per hour, and the higher price will also allow for faster response times. ChatGTP Plus subscribers are expected to get early access to Strawberry before it is rolled out to free users.
If all the buzz about OpenAI’s Strawberry model is true, it looks like a major improvement in providing more thoughtful and accurate solutions and responses to tasks. The delay in response may frustrate some users, but the better reasoning and fewer errors make the wait worthwhile and, in turn, saves time.
