On March 26, Vo Minh Lam - son of artist Duy Son - said that his father passed away that morning in Can Tho, at the age of 64 after a stroke. He received the news of his father's death while he was finishing rehearsing for an upcoming show.
However, Vo Minh Lam could not return home in time to mourn his father. He had a performance scheduled for the Vang Trang Co Nhac program organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television that same evening. He did not want his personal matters to affect the group's work. Therefore, after the program, he would return home to take care of his father's funeral.

"Dad, I remember the day you took me to Saigon. With the guitar you brought with you, you taught me to sing each word. Tonight, I will try to sing for you. I'm sorry for making you sad. You go in peace. I'm so proud of you," Vo Minh Lam shared.
After artist Duy Son passed away, Meritorious Artist Huu Quoc said that artist Duy Son had a very good voice but perhaps the fate of being famous had not come yet. Therefore, he focused all his attention on his son. But from now on, Lam's tours will be without his father.
Artist Duy Son's funeral was held at his home in Ho Chi Minh City on March 26. The burial ceremony took place on March 29. Afterwards, the artist's coffin was buried at Phuc An Vien cemetery.
Artist Duy Son (real name: Vo Van Son) was born in 1960 and has been associated with the Western opera troupes for many years. In 2018, he shared the stage with his son in the play Hon vong phu (author Luu Quang Vu), adapted from the opera Moc Linh, directed by Chi Linh.
