According to Engadget , recent reports say that Samsung will equip the Galaxy Z Flip5 with a larger external display than current models, which is shown by a render image shared by MySmartPrice showing the phone with a secondary display that covers most of the front of the device when people close the device.
Renders allegedly show the Galaxy Z Flip5 launching late next month
MySmartPrice didn't share the size of the outer display, but judging from the leaked image, it's significantly larger than the 1.9-inch display currently found on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Additionally, it looks like Samsung has improved the display around the main camera array on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 compared to what Motorola did with the Motorola Razr+.
The larger external display will make it easier to frame selfies with the Galaxy Z Flip's main camera, but it also comes with some potential drawbacks. First, the larger secondary display will affect battery life on the Galaxy Z Flip5 unless Samsung equips the phone with a larger battery. The small external secondary display is a design that is appreciated on the Galaxy Z Flip4 as it still ensures users can easily access some information.
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Flip5, along with the Galaxy Z Fold5, at its Unpacked event in late July. By then, we'll know for sure whether or not the clamshell-style foldable smartphone will actually have a large display.
