People offer incense at Hoang Luc temple.
Hoang Luc Temple was recognized as a provincial relic by the Provincial People's Committee in 2004. The temple has long been famous as one of the sacred temples; a famous spiritual tourist destination in the border area of Dinh Phong commune, Trung Khanh district.
After being recognized as a provincial relic, the People's Committee of Dinh Phong commune agreed to take the 28th day of the second lunar month every year as the day to hold the festival. The temple is the main place of worship of General Hoang Luc, a talented general who contributed to the resistance against the Song invaders in the 11th century during the reign of King Ly Nhan Tong. General Hoang Luc was a Tay chieftain, born in the 11th century in Lung Dinh area, Thuong Lang district (now Dinh Phong commune). Being a talented person, knowledgeable about history, and proficient in military tactics, at the age of 18 he was appointed as a chieftain to govern an area, and was respected by the people in the resistance against the second Song invasion. When the Song army entered our country, with bold guerrilla warfare, the army under his command attacked from behind and caused great damage to the enemy's forces, contributing to the overall victory of the whole nation.
This is one of the unique festivals, containing many unique and ancient cultural features, a unique cultural - spiritual tourism product held annually, a highlight in the spiritual cultural journey, remembering the origin, carrying the unique brand of Dinh Phong commune.
Sports activities at the festival were exciting and dramatic.
This year's Hoang Luc Temple Festival features special activities such as: unicorn dance, procession, incense offering to the saints; special performances to celebrate the Party and spring, folk song exchanges, volleyball competitions and folk games... attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate in the festival.
