Attending the festival were Comrade Dau Thanh Tung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Ethnic Council and a large number of people and tourists.
Chairman of Yen Dinh District People's Committee Pham Tien Dung opened the festival.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee in charge of the Yen Dinh District Party Committee Vu Ngoc Thuong beat the drum to open the festival.
The festival is held from the 13th to the 15th of the third lunar month (from April 10 to 12) to commemorate the great contributions of Dong Co God who helped many kings and people defeat foreign invaders and eliminate rebels. Notably, during the Ly Dynasty, Dong Co God appeared in the king's dream twice to help him defeat the enemy. When King Ly Thai Tong ascended the throne (in 1028), he granted Dong Co God the title of king.
The festival is also an opportunity to promote and introduce to tourists the unique values of the Festival, Dong Co mountain and temple.

The festival consists of two parts. The ceremony part: Villagers carry the palanquin from Dong Co temple to Phuc communal house to pray for the spirit of Dong Co god, then carry the palanquin from Phuc communal house to Dong Co temple to offer incense. The festival part takes place in an exciting atmosphere, delegates and people can watch a scene reenacting the history of Dong Co god, the formation of Dong Co mountain and temple, performed by Lam Son Song and Dance Theater; participate in cultural exchanges, watch folk games and performances, display OCOP products, typical products of Yen Dinh district and some localities in the province.
