Also attending the incense offering ceremony were Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Do Van Chien... along with leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, Phu Tho province and people attending the incense offering ceremony.
From 5 a.m., more than 1,000 police officers, soldiers, and youth union members were mobilized to ensure security and order for the incense offering ceremony.
Like previous years, the organizers arranged for police and youth union members to set up a soft fence from the festival's central yard to the temple gate.
Thousands of people were also present early to offer incense.
This morning, the weather at Hung Temple was cloudy, around 6am thunderstorms came.
At 6:15 a.m. the same day, the incense offering group departed from the festival center yard to the Upper Temple.
Leading the way was the honor guard carrying the red flag with yellow star, festival flags and wreaths with the words "Forever grateful to the Hung Kings who built the country".
Next were 100 Lac Hong descendants and a delegation representing the Party, State, Phu Tho province and people nationwide.
The incense offering procession had just passed the temple gate when it started to rain heavily.
Mr. Le Truong Giang, director of Hung Temple Historical Site, said the incense offering ceremony takes place from 7am to 9am.
Visitors to Hung Temple at this time can visit the area where cultural festivals, exhibitions, and folk cultural activities are held on the Hung Temple grounds.
In addition, visitors and locals can offer incense at the Temple of National Ancestor Lac Long Quan and the Temple of Mother Au Co to avoid overcrowding and jostling.
