On the morning of December 27, at the National Funeral House (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi), the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family solemnly held the funeral of General Nguyen Quyet, former Secretary of the 6th Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, former Deputy Minister of National Defense, former Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, according to the State funeral ceremony.
General Nguyen Quyet's coffin is laid to rest at the National Funeral Home (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi).
The State Funeral Committee is headed by Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission.
General Nguyen Quyet (birth name Nguyen Tien Van, born August 20, 1922; hometown Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province; residing at 2/4 Yecxanh, Pham Dinh Ho ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) participated in the revolution in 1939; joined the Party in May 1940. He was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 4th, 5th, and 6th terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee of the 6th term; Vice Chairman of the State Council of the 8th term (now Vice President).
He is also a former member of the Central Military Commission; Deputy Minister of National Defense; Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; National Assembly Delegate of the 4th, 7th and 8th terms.

After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, professors, doctors and family, due to old age and poor health, General Nguyen Quyet passed away at 9:09 p.m. on December 23 (November 23, Giap Thin year) at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 102.
