Spreading the spirit and effectiveness of the National Great Unity Day

Kinhtedothi - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Hanoi City shared outstanding results in promoting the spirit of great national unity from the activities of the VFF at all levels of the city, especially innovations in organizing the Great National Unity Day.

It has become a tradition every November, along with the whole country, to organize the National Great Unity Day associated with the anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Traditional Day (November 18) in residential areas in Hanoi. This has become a beautiful tradition, bringing the Front's work back to the community, towards each family, each person; contributing to building and promoting the people's right to mastery and consolidating the strength of the great national unity bloc.

Discussing this issue, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Lan Huong shared outstanding results in promoting the spirit of great national unity from the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels of the city, especially innovations in organizing the Great National Unity Day.

Bringing the Front's work to every family and every citizen

The strength of the great national unity bloc is one of the most important resources for our entire Party, people and army to overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully carry out the cause of innovation, for the goal of "Rich people, strong country, democracy, equality and civilization". Could you tell us about the results of promoting the spirit of great national unity from the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the city in recent times?

- Thoroughly grasping the Party's viewpoints and policies, Ho Chi Minh's thought on great national unity, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations in Hanoi always strive to fulfill their tasks of strengthening, consolidating and expanding the great unity bloc, being the "bridge" between Party committees, authorities and the people.

In the 2019-2024 term, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the City has admitted 4 more member organizations; performed well the core role in chairing consultations, coordinating with member organizations and authorities at all levels to mobilize and promote the role of solidarity among social classes, highlighting the role of typical individuals in all classes, ethnicities, religions, and Vietnamese people residing abroad.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front always pays attention to the thoughts, aspirations and practical interests of the people, creates all favorable conditions and mobilizes and attracts people to actively participate in emulation movements and campaigns; promotes all resources and creativity, and actively contributes to the common cause of the country. In particular, during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has strongly affirmed its role as a center for gathering and rallying the great solidarity bloc; closely coordinates with the government and member organizations to promptly resolve difficult and new issues directly related to the lives of the people.

The campaigns and emulation movements were deployed with focus and key points, strongly arousing the spirit of emulation and creative labor of the people and the joint efforts of the whole community to participate in economic development, solve social problems, build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, sustainable poverty reduction, and mobilize the largest amount of support funds ever.

This year, what is new about the organization of the National Great Unity Day in the Capital compared to previous years, Madam?

- In 2024, the City People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City agreed to issue a Joint Plan on organizing the National Great Unity Day in the area. Accordingly, the Festival includes both a ceremony and a festival to promote the glorious history and tradition of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the cause of national liberation, national reunification, construction and defense of the Fatherland.

In particular, this year's National Great Unity Day coincides with the successful National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, with many new points in the direction, content, and program, including the content of "Promoting the role of mastery and self-management of the People, building a united, prosperous, and happy residential area". This is also the important content that the City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has included in the content of the Day so that people can contribute ideas and suggestions to build a more developed residential area.

The festival will take place from November 1 to November 18. Localities affected by storm No. 3 and floods will have appropriate organization methods based on the actual situation; prioritize activities to care for and support affected families; carry out environmental sanitation work; and ensure social security activities to help people stabilize their lives soon.

- Madam, from the organization of the recent National Great Unity Day throughout the city, how will the spirit and effectiveness of the Day be promoted and expanded in listening to the thoughts and aspirations of the people?

The National Great Unity Day in residential areas has been constantly innovated in content and organization methods, becoming a widespread political and social activity that attracts a large number of people from all walks of life to actively respond. This is also an opportunity for leaders of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, and organizations from the city to the grassroots to directly meet, listen to the thoughts and aspirations, and participate in activities with the people, thereby strengthening the relationship between the people and the Party, strengthening mobilization, and gathering people from all walks of life.

The comments at the Festival are a rich and accurate information channel from the community, a basis for building and adjusting policies to suit reality, a step to concretize the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise and people benefit". At the same time, it is an opportunity to strengthen the close relationship between the People and Party committees and authorities at all levels.

Increasingly attracting a wide range of people

- Through the National Great Unity Day, can you share how the Vietnam Fatherland Front has promoted its role in connecting the community, especially in mobilizing all resources of the people in poverty reduction work?

Over time, the Great Solidarity Day has increasingly innovated in content and organization methods, attracting the participation of many classes of people with cultural, artistic, and sports activities. Activities of visiting and giving gifts to families of policy beneficiaries, veteran revolutionary cadres, cadres of the Front from different periods, families in difficult circumstances, poor and near-poor households have also taken place practically.

In addition, there are also activities to honor cultural families and cultural residential areas; general environmental sanitation, maintaining urban order, organizing traditional folk games, community activities, organizing Great Unity meals... creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere among the people. These activities have connected "village love, neighborhood love", aroused the will, aspiration to rise up and the tradition of "remembering the source of drinking water", mutual love and affection in each community, joining hands and unanimously building the homeland to develop more and more.

Over the past 20 years, 4,385 civil works have been built, 9,978 new Great Unity houses have been built, 3,940 Great Unity houses have been repaired, and 5,878 Great Unity houses have been awarded on the occasion of the Festival.

To enhance the role and prestige of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in building the great national unity bloc, what contents and tasks will the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi focus on implementing, Madam?

- The Vietnam Fatherland Front of the City continues to strongly innovate its content and methods of operation to truly be a political alliance, a voluntary union, representing the will, aspirations, rights and legitimate interests of the People; promoting the core political role and responsibility in building the great national unity bloc, strengthening social consensus; arousing the tradition of patriotism, national pride, and the aspiration to build a prosperous and happy country among the People.

At the same time, continue to build and firmly consolidate the great national unity bloc; deploy diverse forms of propaganda and mobilization, promptly synthesize and orient public opinion; strengthen democracy, promote social supervision and criticism, prevent corruption, negativity, waste, actively participate in building a clean and strong Party and government.

At the same time, strengthen consensus, promote socio-economic development, accelerate industrialization and modernization, build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, build a civilized, modern and cultural capital Hanoi; contribute to maintaining peace, firmly protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, for a rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.
