Deepening the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

NDO - During a phone call on the afternoon of March 18, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul discussed measures to promote bilateral relations, affirming the commitment to close cooperation between the two countries.


Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his delight at the remarkable developments in the bilateral relationship in recent times, especially since the upgrading of the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in December 2022.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to its cooperative relationship with Korea and wishes to work with Korea to further deepen the "Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" in the coming time.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that the two sides continue to strengthen political trust through high-level delegation exchanges and at all levels, promote bilateral trade cooperation to soon achieve the goal of raising trade turnover to 100 billion USD in the coming time, and encourage Korean enterprises to invest and expand their investment scale in Vietnam in areas where Korea has strengths and Vietnam has demand.

Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul agreed with the concerns and major orientations proposed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son for bilateral relations in the coming time; at the same time, he emphasized that Vietnam is a key partner in implementing Korea's foreign policy in the region; he hoped that the two sides would continue to coordinate and support each other at international organizations, improve the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, including the annual Dialogue of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries on reviewing the implementation of the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed in June 2023.

The two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate and effectively implement the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders, and in the immediate future, promote delegation exchanges on the occasion of Vietnam hosting the 4th Summit of the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G).

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son respectfully invited Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul to visit Vietnam soon. Minister Cho Tae Yul thanked him and happily accepted the invitation.
