Securities companies have just announced that customers must update their citizen identification cards according to the Law on Identification (effective from July 1) and the requirements of the State Securities Commission on reviewing, authenticating, and standardizing data on securities investors and to ensure continued use of online trading services.
Accordingly, investors must update their personal information to ensure that it matches their citizen identification information in the National Population Database. If customers do not update, from October 1, securities companies will temporarily suspend online trading services until investors update their information (customers can only perform direct services at the securities company's counter).
Stock investors need to update their citizen identification before October 1 to avoid interruption in online transactions.
Updating citizen identification can be done both directly (at the transaction counter) and online. If not done directly, many companies instruct investors to send a registered email or send documents via post. Some securities companies have online applications to help customers authenticate and update citizen identification quickly and conveniently, such as customers of Mirae Asset Securities Company can authenticate directly on the My Finance application; VNDIRECT also instructs customers to update directly on the My DGO web application at https://myaccount.vndirect.com.vn/ , in the Account Management section...
The time to update citizen identification will depend on each securities company, some units give the time before August 31 or before October 1.
According to data from the Vietnam Securities Depository, the number of domestic investor accounts increased by nearly 330,000 in July, three times higher than the previous month and the month with the highest number of newly opened accounts in the past two years. By the end of July, the total number of domestic investor securities accounts reached more than 8.33 million accounts, the highest ever. Of which, individual investors had more than 8.11 million accounts, equivalent to about 8% of the population.
