On September 19, in Cu Lao Dung district, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province handed over the site for the Dai Ngai bridge construction investment project. Accordingly, the total length of the route through Long Phu and Cu Lao Dung districts is about 5.3 km, with 118 households affected with an area of over 206,000 m2, total value of nearly 96 billion VND. Of these, 115 households agreed to the compensation price, handing over more than 200,000 m2.

Two weeks ago, Tra Vinh province handed over 290,000 square meters of land in Tra Cu and Tieu Can districts to build Dai Ngai bridge. To date, Tra Vinh province's Land Fund Development Center has completed the inventory and approved compensation for all 347 households affected by the project with a value of over VND190 billion. Of these, 336 households have been compensated with a total amount of over VND178 billion.

The entire Dai Ngai Bridge project is 15.1 km long, with 5 intersections and 7 bridges, funded by ODA, invested by Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Transport). Of which, 5 bridges have simple spans and two large bridges crossing the Hau River, about 3.5 km long: Dai Ngai 1 (cable-stayed bridge) - Dinh An channel, Dai Ngai 2 (balanced cantilever bridge) - Tran De channel. In phase 1, the main bridge has four lanes, is more than 17.5 m wide, and has a speed of 80 km/h. In phase 2, the approach roads on both sides of the bridge will be raised to four lanes.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai, Director of Project Management Board 85, after Soc Trang and Tra Vinh hand over the site, the unit will start the construction package of Dai Ngai 2 bridge, the route and the works on the route in October, striving to put it into use by the end of 2025. At the same time, the construction package of Dai Ngai 1 bridge will complete the technical design, estimate and start construction in the fourth quarter of 2024, put into use in the second quarter of 2028.

When put into use, the project will help shorten the distance by 80 km compared to National Highway 1 when traveling from Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu to Ho Chi Minh City, reducing 1.5-2 hours of waiting and traveling via two ferries across the Hau River.
