In a small house in Duong Dai Thuan village, Trieu Thuan commune, Trieu Phong district, Ms. Vo Thi Thu Hanh (born in 1982) and her children still cannot overcome the pain of losing their husband and father. Despite suffering from many illnesses, Ms. Hanh is always optimistic, trying to earn a living to be a support for her young children.

In 2000, Ms. Hanh got married and lived with her husband in Trieu Thuan commune. Although they were busy making a living, their family's economy faced many difficulties. In 2008, the couple decided to take their first child and leave their hometown to start a business in Dong Nai province. When life gradually stabilized, Ms. Hanh gave birth to 4 more children. Although the life of the couple and their 5 children was not yet full, it was always happy and cozy.

However, disaster struck unexpectedly in early 2023, when Ms. Hanh's husband's congenital bronchial asthma became severe, requiring long-term treatment at a high cost. Ms. Hanh had to earn a living alone, take care of her husband's medicine and her children's education, so the money she had saved for so long gradually ran out, and she had to borrow more from relatives.

After a period of treatment, in July 2023, Ms. Hanh's husband passed away. She decided to bring him back to her hometown for burial according to his wishes. "At that time, my family decided to leave Dong Nai after 15 years of working together. The day of returning home should have been a happy day, but for my family, it was too painful and heartbreaking," Ms. Hanh choked up as she recounted.

After taking care of her husband's funeral, Ms. Hanh had to temporarily borrow her brother-in-law's old house to repair and stay temporarily because their old house was seriously degraded. She renovated the front garden to grow crops and often helped with odd jobs for small traders at the nearby market and local people. Recently, seeing her health decline, she went to the doctor and discovered that she had many serious illnesses that required treatment at a high cost.

“I have severe degeneration of the spine and neck, along with an abnormal tumor in my stomach, so I cannot do heavy work for too long. Sometimes I have to struggle to make a living, so my condition gets worse.

Recently, thanks to everyone's help, I was able to go to Hue Central Hospital for examination and testing. Currently, the doctor prescribed medication to treat the tumor and scheduled a follow-up visit for screening to determine whether the tumor is benign or malignant," said Ms. Hanh.

For many months now, Ms. Hanh has been treated with many expensive medicines, and because she is worried about her children's education, she often borrows money from many places. "Currently, the family's economy mainly depends on growing crops in the small garden in front of the house, and the income from my hired work and that of my eldest son who is a painter.

Meanwhile, the cost of my medicine and the education of my four children is quite high, so life is becoming more and more difficult.

I am always afraid that if one day my illness gets worse and I cannot make a living, my children's studies and life will be difficult because the youngest child is only 14 years old, the next child is 12 years old and the twins are only 7 years old," Ms. Hanh said anxiously.
