Khanh Hoa sets economic growth target for second quarter at 10.9%

On the morning of April 8, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting with leaders of departments, branches and sectors to assess the economic growth scenario in the first quarter of 2025; directions, tasks and solutions for the following months of 2025 with a growth target of 10 to 10.5%. Also attending the meeting were Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan delivered a concluding speech at the meeting.

According to the report of the Department of Finance, in the first 3 months of 2025, the total product in the province (GRDP) increased by 6.72% over the same period last year, lower than the proposed scenario (10.5%) and lower than the GDP growth of the whole country (6.93%). In particular, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector grew by 2.51%, lower than the proposed scenario (3%); the industrial sector grew by 3.8%, lower than the proposed scenario (11.6%); the construction sector grew by 10.98%, lower than the proposed scenario (20.5%); the service sector grew by 7.96%, lower than the proposed scenario (9.8%). Particularly, import tax, products minus product subsidies grew by 8.2%, higher than the proposed scenario (7%). Regarding development investment, in the first quarter of 2025, the total social development investment capital of the province reached more than 16,000 billion VND, an increase of 14.3% over the same period last year, basically following the set scenario (more than 16,243 billion VND). However, the results of implementing investment capital for non-budget investment projects and disbursement of public investment capital were still low, not meeting the set scenario.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan requested that sectors, units and localities need to have specific action plans to implement the set growth targets. Based on the proposal of the Department of Finance, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan agreed to choose option 3 for the growth scenario in the second quarter and the first 6 months of 2025. To complete the growth scenario according to option 3, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan requested that agencies, units and localities focus on promoting the disbursement of public investment capital, striving to disburse at least 50% of the assigned capital plan by the end of June 2025; promote new growth drivers, attract tourists and service industries.

Along with that, research and organize many cultural and artistic activities, especially in the events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Sea Festival in 2025; prepare to organize major music events, thereby stimulating tourism. In addition, units also implement solutions to promote production, business, import and export of goods; inspect and review procedures for investment policy proposals, promptly start construction of industrial park projects, industrial clusters, hospital projects and a number of other key projects.
