The film predicted to be the blockbuster of 2024 was turned away by audiences with very low ratings and opening revenue below expectations.

With an opening weekend in North American theaters of just $40 million, Joker: Folie à Deux ranked number 1 but it is difficult to repeat the impressive achievements of the first film. Previously, in 2019, the appearance of Joker is considered to bring a fresh, different breeze to the superhero comic book film genre, becoming the first R-rated film to surpass the $1 billion mark.
Now, with twice the stars, twice the madness as ever, but Joker: Folie à Deux set another record with a D grade from audiences. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the first superhero comic book adaptation to receive such a low score. Audiences seem to not only criticize, but also turn their backs on Joker: Folie à Deux but also expressed outrage at the new film from director Todd Phillips. On Rotten Tomatoes, Joker: Folie à Deux also received a "rotten tomatoes" rating of only 33%, worse than some movies that were criticized as disasters.

Joker: Folie à Deux was considered superficial, "thin" in script, a bit boring, wasting the talents of two star actors Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. What remained was only the singing part but it was not really reasonable, did not highlight the characteristics and impressions of both characters.
Negative reviews for Joker: Folie à Deux will certainly sink the film at the global box office and shatter expectations of repeating the billion-dollar achievement of the first part, even facing the risk of losing money.
