Camel shrimp can grow up to 4m in size and can change their body color very quickly to match changes in the environment such as light and temperature. This color change is not only for camouflage but also plays a role in communication and reproduction.

During the tour, visitors will also learn about artificial reefs. Artificial reefs are important in many areas such as attracting aquatic species (fish, mollusks, crustaceans, echinoderms, etc.) to gather, feed, avoid predators, reproduce, and develop. At the same time, they support coral reef restoration by providing substrate for coral and algae to grow; preventing the use of trawlers to exploit coastal fisheries and improving the seabed environment...

The triangular spiny horseshoe crab measures 25-30cm (male) and 30-40cm (female). They live in a sandy-muddy bottom environment. In 1993, the Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography developed a process for extracting Lysate activity from horseshoe crab blood for use in biological testing to detect endotoxins in research subjects. This research was granted a "utility solution" patent by the Vietnam Patent Office.

The Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography was established in 1922 as the “Indochina Fisheries Oceanography Department”. In 1993, it was named the Institute of Oceanography, including all marine research agencies nationwide: the main institute in Nha Trang and two branches in Hai Phong and Hanoi. Later, the two branches in Hai Phong and Hanoi were upgraded to the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics (Hanoi) and the Institute of Marine Resources and Environment (Hai Phong). To date, there is only one Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography in the whole country.

The non-biological artifacts area is where geological samples collected from different sea areas across Vietnam are collected and preserved. In addition, visitors will also have the opportunity to see firsthand the machinery and equipment for marine and meteorological research through different periods. This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about the formation and development of marine research in the country as well as around the world.
