According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first two months of 2025, Quang Ninh's destinations, relics and scenic spots welcomed over 3.7 million tourists, an increase of 27% over the same period in 2024. Of which, 740,000 were international visitors, an increase of more than 10% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourism was over VND 8,300 billion, an increase of 8% over the same period. The figures show the growth momentum of Quang Ninh tourism right from the first months of the year, especially the growth of international visitors.
In the province's tourism development orientation, besides promoting the domestic market, attracting the international market is one of the important goals. This year, besides the traditional products that have created the brand for Quang Ninh tourism, the province focuses on innovating tourism products towards high quality, competitiveness, promoting the advantages of Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, strongly exploiting the luxury segment, with high spending to increase tourism revenue... The goal of Quang Ninh tourism industry this year is to welcome 20 million tourists, of which 4.5 million are international visitors, with total revenue from tourism reaching 55,000 billion VND.
On March 29, Quang Ninh province will organize the Bai Tu Long Bay Tourism Development Conference and launch tourism itineraries on Bai Tu Long Bay. With 10 tourism itineraries on Bai Tu Long Bay and 3 itineraries connecting Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay announced, tourists will be taken to pristine, separate areas that have never been exploited for tourism. The products are aimed at the high-end segment, extending the length of stay of tourists with diverse experiences both on the bay and on the islands in the Van Don and Cam Pha areas.
The new itineraries on Bai Tu Long Bay play an important role in increasing competitiveness, maintaining the attractiveness of Quang Ninh tourism, and actively contributing to realizing the goal of increasing international visitors. As one of the pioneers in exploiting the "Heritage Journey" route connecting Ha Long Bay with Bai Tu Long Bay, Mr. Trinh Duc Thuan, Deputy Head of Project Management Board, Viet Thuan Transport Company Limited, shared: The opening of the tourism itineraries on Bai Tu Long Bay is a testament to the efforts and companionship of Quang Ninh province with businesses in promoting the exploitation of high-quality international tourist markets. This is also an important step to enhance the tourism value of the Quang Ninh sea and island area.
The excitement of cruise tourism has also brought a large number of international visitors to Quang Ninh. Since the beginning of 2025, Quang Ninh has welcomed over 20 international cruise ships, carrying more than 26,000 international tourists from many markets in Europe, America, Australia, and Northeast Asia. It is expected that this year, Quang Ninh will welcome about 70 cruise ships, with nearly 90,000 international tourists. The tourism industry is making efforts to attract new cruise tourist markets. On the occasion of April 30, the Pacific World cruise ship managed and operated by Peace Boat (Japan) will bring about 1,700 tourists, mainly Japanese tourists, to Ha Long, Quang Ninh for the first time. Ms. Nguyen Thuy Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: This is the first time Quang Ninh has welcomed a cruise ship in the form of a charter (chartered for the entire trip) from Japan to Ha Long, marking an important milestone for the tourism industry's persistent efforts in promoting high-end, high-spending tourist markets; making Ha Long a regular destination for cruise lines in general and Japan in particular.
Along with sea and island tourism, spiritual cultural tourism is also gradually asserting its appeal to the international tourist market. At Yen Tu relic and landscape site, an average of 400-500 international visitors are currently welcomed each day, mostly from the Korean market. Legacy Yen Tu - Mgallery resort also welcomes a fairly positive number of international visitors. The experiences are constantly renewed, associated with the unique features of traditional national culture, which is one of the highlights that helps the destination become popular with international visitors. It is expected that this year, the scientific dossier of the Yen Tu relic and landscape complex (Quang Ninh) - Vinh Nghiem (Bac Giang) - Con Son, Kiep Bac (Hai Duong) will be considered by UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site. This is a great opportunity to promote and spread the value of Yen Tu to the international market.
To create a highlight to attract tourists, throughout 2025, Quang Ninh province organized 170 programs, events, and tourism stimulus activities in the province. Of which, there are 24 programs, events, and tourism stimulus activities at international, national, and provincial levels, and 146 programs, events, and tourism stimulus activities at local levels. The vibrant organization of programs, events, and tourism stimulus activities has contributed positively to attracting a large number of tourists to Quang Ninh, including the international tourist market, gradually developing Quang Ninh into a tourism center connecting the region and the world.
