Continuing the working program in Ho Chi Minh City, this morning, the delegation of Quang Ninh province went to learn about the urban traffic development model of Ho Chi Minh City.
The provincial delegation visited and experienced the urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien). The delegation traveled through 14 stations, starting from Ben Thanh station and ending at Suoi Tien station, in about 30 minutes.
Urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) was put into commercial operation from December 22, 2024 and officially inaugurated on March 9, 2025. The line has a total length of 19.7 km, including 14 stations, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Thu Duc City. This is the first metro line in the country with an underground section, applying many modern and advanced construction methods. The project uses ODA capital from the Japanese Government and domestic counterpart capital, and is a key economic cooperation project between the two governments of Vietnam and Japan.
The operation of the No. 1 urban railway marks a turning point in the transformation of Ho Chi Minh City's urban transport model, which is of great significance to the city's socio-economic development. This will also be an important premise to help Ho Chi Minh City realize its goal of building a network of 7 urban railway lines with a total length of 355 km in the next 10 years.
