On May 25, in Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism opened the 2024 Creative Camp for authors researching literary theory and criticism with the participation of nearly 30 artists from across the country.

Concretize the policy of developing literature and art in the new period

This creative camp was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Performing Arts in coordination with the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts, the Vietnam Writers Association and related units from now until May 31.

Mr. Tran Huong Duong - Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts, head of the organizing committee of the Creative Camp for authors researching literary theory and criticism in 2024 - said that this creative camp is organized to promote the creativity of artists in researching literary theory and criticism.

This is an activity of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to concretize the policies of the Party and State on the development of literature and arts in the new period; conclusion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference on November 24, 2021.

According to Mr. Duong, this activity also concretizes the Prime Minister's decision to approve the Cultural Development Strategy to 2030; at the same time, it attracts and maximizes the strength of the team of artists to create quality literary and artistic works of great scale, stature and ideology.

This is also the first program to specify the project of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on "Improving creative capacity, literary theory and criticism for the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030".

Expect to produce many good works of stature

Mr. Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - assessed that the writing camp in Nha Trang this time discussed very deep and difficult issues, which are theoretical research and literary criticism, requiring writers and researchers to have extensive knowledge and experience in the profession.

He expects the creative camp with the participation of nearly 30 artists from across the country will create many good, significant and highly directional works.

"Through the writing camp, artists will gain more knowledge about literary and artistic fields, better perform the function of appraising and evaluating works and authors; discover values, rules, forecasts, discover new things; participate in adjusting and orienting the movement and development of literature and art, keeping up with creative practice," said Mr. Phong.

Within the framework of the creative camp, artists will have many activities such as discussions, orientation of creative content; writing outlines and manuscripts at the creative house; going on field trips, visiting and meeting soldiers and students at the Naval Academy and sailing ship 286, historical and cultural relics...
