On the evening of October 24, the Department of Industry and Trade of the Ministry of Industry and Trade held the opening ceremony of the 2024 Exhibition of Typical Rural Industrial Products.
Attending the opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of the locality Ngo Quang Trung and leaders of the Departments and Divisions under the Ministry. On the local side, there were Ms. Tran Kim Yen - Standing Member of the City Party Committee, Head of the Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Ms. Nguyen Tran Phuong Tran - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union, along with representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade, Industrial Promotion Centers of provinces and cities across the country and many rural industrial enterprises.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang said that identifying the role of enterprises and rural industrial establishments as an important element in local socio-economic development and making a significant contribution to the country's development; the industrial promotion policy recently assigned by the Government to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committees of provinces and cities has been effective in accompanying and actively supporting the business community and investment establishments in developing production and business in rural areas.
In the series of industrial promotion activities, developing typical rural industrial products through voting activities at all levels and trade promotion is one of the key contents implemented annually and widely throughout the country; increasingly affirming the importance of industrial promotion work in supporting enterprises and establishments to increase production capacity, improve product quality, promote trade activities and contribute to economic growth.

The Deputy Minister also said that 2024 is a year full of difficulties and challenges when the world and the region continue to suffer from the prolonged impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, strategic competition between major powers, inflation in many countries directly affecting the industrial and commercial production activities of our country; domestically, the largest super typhoon Yagi in the past 30 years and the post-typhoon circulation have caused great damage to most northern provinces and cities.
However, with the strong leadership and direction of the Party and State leaders; the timely and effective participation of ministries, branches and localities; the efforts of the business community and people, Vietnam has overcome difficulties, continued the recovery momentum, and economic growth for the whole year is estimated at about 6.8 - 7%, exceeding the target set by the National Assembly.

“ In that general achievement, there is an important contribution of industrial promotion work, especially trade promotion activities that have provided timely support to enterprises and rural industrial establishments to overcome difficulties, restore production and business activities and develop the market, ” the Deputy Minister noted.
Implementing the 2024 work plan, the Ministry of Industry and Trade directed the local Department of Industry and Trade to organize the 2024 Exhibition of Typical Rural Industrial Products in Hanoi from October 24 to 28, 2024 to introduce achievements in industrial and handicraft development of localities nationwide.
This is an important trade promotion activity of the National Industrial Promotion Program in 2024, attracting about 150 organizations and businesses from 40 localities across the country, with a scale of 250 booths focusing on hundreds of products that have been voted and honored as typical rural industrial products at the national and regional levels.

About 50% of the products displayed at the exhibition have now entered distribution channels and supply chains in the national market, especially products in the fields of agricultural, forestry, fishery, food processing, and handicraft products with outstanding quality and high usage value, meeting the tastes of domestic and foreign consumers.
Within the framework of the exhibition, a number of activities also took place, such as: Workshop on digital transformation for rural industrial establishments; demonstration of handicraft skills; consulting activities to improve production and business capacity for rural industrial establishments.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that the exhibition will be an effective bridge, bringing many economic values as well as practical opportunities to help the business community and establishments seek investment cooperation opportunities, develop markets, improve competitiveness, position and take off the brands of typical rural industrial products of Vietnam not only in the domestic market but also have the opportunity to enter the international market ” - Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang emphasized.
