Ninh Giang district has the fastest planting season in Hai Duong province.

Farmers in Nghia An commune (Ninh Giang) sow spring rice the fastest in the province.

According to the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, by the end of February 14, Hai Duong had planted 34,975 hectares of spring rice, reaching 66% of the whole crop plan, up 17.8% over the same period last year.

Ninh Giang district is leading the province in terms of spring rice cultivation area with 5,000 hectares (82% of the total crop area), followed by Tu Ky and Thanh Mien districts (both reaching 80%), Kim Thanh (78.9%), Gia Loc (77.8%)...

This year, the watering process was less difficult and faster than last year. The rice seedlings were well protected and cared for, and were not damaged by the cold. After Tet, except for a few days of severe cold, the weather was basically favorable for farmers to plant.

Rice transplanters are actively operating in many fields in Hai Duong, contributing to speeding up the planting progress and ensuring the crop schedule.

The province's rapid planting progress is also due to the accelerated application of mechanization by farmers. About 15% of the area is planted by machines, an increase of 3% over the same period.

The Hydrometeorological Agency forecasts that the weather in Hai Duong in the next week will be quite warm with temperatures ranging from 17 to 25 degrees Celsius, light rain and drizzle. This type of weather is suitable for planting and caring for newly planted rice.

Warm weather, light rain, drizzle are favorable conditions for Hai Duong farmers to prepare the land and plant the remaining spring rice fields.

The industry recommends that local farmers focus on preparing the land and planting the remaining 18,025 hectares of rice within the allowed time frame, ending no later than February 28.

Regularly check and provide enough water (2-3 cm above the field surface) for newly planted fields and promptly water the sown rice; proactively apply balanced top dressing fertilizer to rice, apply early and concentrated fertilizer.
