In practice, most religious dignitaries have guided and, together with followers, lived a good life, respected their religion, and strictly implemented the policies and laws of the Party and the State. However, the infiltration of the "poisonous wind" called the Ha Mon cult has caused significant consequences, dividing the great solidarity bloc and disrupting the lives of people in some ethnic minority areas. Therefore, all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces of Kon Tum province have joined the fight to eliminate the "poisonous wind".
Typically, in Dak Ha district, when discovering the infiltration of the Ha Mon cult in the area, the Dak Ha District Party Committee developed plans to direct the fight to eradicate it. At the same time, the District Party Committee established a special task force with the participation of all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces.
Stick to the base, influence from sincerity
To learn about the process of fighting and eliminating the Ha Mon cult in Ngok Wang commune in particular and Dak Ha district in general, we had the opportunity to talk with Lieutenant Colonel Dang Minh Thang, Chief of Dak La Commune Police, Dak Ha district (former Head of the Dak Ha District Police Security Team), one of the cadres who stayed close to the grassroots, directly propagating and mobilizing the masses to fight and eliminate the Ha Mon cult.
He informed that since Kon Gu 1 village, Ngok Wang commune became a local hot spot for the infiltration of the Ha Mon cult, Dak Ha district police have become brothers and sponsors of the village. Thereby, creating conditions for officers and soldiers to always be close to the people, listen to their thoughts and aspirations to gradually propagate and mobilize people to clearly recognize the tricks of deception, enticement, and harm of the Ha Mon cult, focusing on the group of 27 households/54 ethnic minority people who naively believed in the Ha Mon cult.
“The first stage was also the most difficult time. Because they were deeply involved in the Ha Mon cult, these households hardly listened to our advice. They often avoided us when we came to their homes, not contacting or meeting us. Some households insisted on “barricading themselves” in their homes and not opening the door. This caused our propaganda and mobilization to sometimes come to a dead end,” Lieutenant Colonel Dang Minh Thang recalled.
However, with the spirit of "3 sticking, 4 together" (sticking to the unit, sticking to the locality, sticking to policies; eating together, living together, working together, speaking the same language as the people), all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces have made efforts to shorten the distance with households who mistakenly believe in the Ha Mon cult. Officers of all forces coordinate closely with each other, always paying attention to support and help these households.
“All levels, sectors, localities and functional forces have actively mobilized resources to bring people the most practical support. It could be trees and seedlings for economic development, a new house to replace the dilapidated temporary house, agricultural tools to help people do business and cultivate… Thereby, helping these households clearly see the attention of the Party and the State, realizing that they are being exploited by bad elements to cause trouble and sabotage the local government,” Lieutenant Colonel Dang Minh Thang emphasized.
In addition, all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces also organized meetings and mobilized religious dignitaries in the area to directly participate in the fight to eradicate the Ha Mon heresy. Thereby, religious dignitaries realized the consequences of the "poisonous wind" spread by the Ha Mon heresy, so they actively coordinated with local authorities to directly visit and mobilize households who believed in the Ha Mon heresy to return to the "righteous religion".
At the same time, local authorities and party committees proactively promote the role of prestigious people in ethnic minority and religious areas and those with close relationships and influence to persuade households who mistakenly believe in the Ha Mon cult to return and reintegrate into the community.
Local authorities and party committees mobilized people to actively develop the economy and stay away from the Ha Mon cult.
With the good and effective ways of all levels and sectors, the mistaken households have abandoned the Ha Mon cult. After returning, many households have actively participated with all levels and sectors in propagating and mobilizing to help those who are still ignorant to clearly recognize the plots and tricks of the Ha Mon cult, and return to integrate into the community. By 2017, 100% of the households who believed in the Ha Mon cult in the Ngok Wang commune had returned to the community, not listening to the instigation and enticement of bad people. Thereby, Dak Ha district declared the successful eradication of the Ha Mon cult in the entire district.
Synchronized coordination, flexible movement
For Sa Loong commune, Ngoc Hoi district, all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces have also implemented many drastic solutions. Implementing the direction of the District Party Committee, together with all levels and sectors, the Sa Loong Commune Party Committee has developed Plan No. 32-KH/DU on the fight to completely eradicate the Ha Mon cult in Giang Lo II village.
In particular, the Party Committee of Sa Loong commune directed the Party Cell of Giang Lo II village to coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and Border Guard Station 701 to establish 5 household groups (4 groups of 20 households, 1 group of 23 households), assigning party members to be in charge of each household group and households following the Ha Mon cult to propagate, mobilize and fight.
In addition, it is necessary to separate the leaders of the Ha Mon cult to have appropriate propaganda and education measures to help them quickly recognize the plots and tricks of the Ha Mon cult and return to the community. One of the highly effective solutions is to mobilize households in the area to voluntarily contribute rice to organize group meals with 100% of households participating, thereby strengthening solidarity in the community.
Officers and soldiers of Sa Loong Border Post are close to the people and effectively carry out propaganda work to prevent the Ha Mon heresy.
Slow and steady wins the race. Thanks to the efforts of all levels, sectors, localities and authorities in propaganda and mobilization, people have clearly understood the consequences of the Ha Mon cult. And then, 53 households with 200 people in Giang Lo II village abandoned the Ha Mon cult and joined hands with the community to build the locality to develop more and more.
Ho Moong Commune of Sa Thay District used to be one of the hot spots in Kon Tum Province for the infiltration of the Ha Mon cult. From 2008 to 2010, many households in Dak Wok Yop Village (Ho Moong Commune) naively believed in the Ha Mon cult. They gathered illegally, avoided and showed defiant attitudes when government officials came to advise them. This has greatly affected the security, political situation, and social order and safety in the area.
Elder A Nuih, Dak Wok Yop village, could not help but be shocked when recalling: Before, I was blinded, believed in the Ha Mon cult, and hid from the government for 9 years. I and the followers of the Ha Mon cult did not stay in the resettlement house but built huts near the lake, reading sutras all day, not worrying about business or production. Therefore, our material and spiritual life gradually declined, many children could not go to school, and people also lacked food and clothing...
Faced with this situation, all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces have resolutely taken action. Units have assigned cadres to stay close to villages and households to make efforts to propagate, mobilize and explain to people so that they can clearly understand the plots and tricks of the bad guys; at the same time, analyze and point out the actual causes that make people's lives increasingly worse than before.
After a long period of active propaganda and mobilization by all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces, the people in Dak Wok Yop village have abandoned the Ha Mon cult and returned to normal life. The security, political situation, and social order and safety have been gradually maintained and stabilized. Party committees and authorities at all levels are still regularly close to and promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people in order to promptly resolve and support them to improve their lives.
It can be seen that with the participation of all levels, sectors, localities and functional forces, the "poisonous wind" of the Ha Mon cult has been gradually eliminated, returning a peaceful life to the villages.
