Taking advantage of favorable weather, localities are urging farmers to plant spring rice in the best time frame. That was the direction of Comrade Lai Van Hoan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee when inspecting agricultural production in Thai Thuy district on the afternoon of February 2.

Up to now, 100% of the spring rice cultivation area in the province has been flooded. The whole province has sown about 1,500 hectares of seedlings, mainly machine-planted tray seedlings and yard seedlings. Right after Tet, farmers in the localities focused on the fields to prepare the land and sow. The whole province has sown over 8,000 hectares of spring rice, of which Thai Thuy district has sown over 300 hectares.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, cold air is likely to be active in February, causing severe cold spells, possibly accompanied by frost, which could affect crop production, especially newly planted rice.

Comrade Lai Van Hoan, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the agricultural sector to direct specialized units to guide farmers in taking care of newly planted rice fields so that the rice can grow and develop well. Strengthen field inspection, estimate, forecast and replicate land accumulation and concentration models, attract businesses and farmers to invest in building and developing value chains from production, processing to consumption of agricultural products. Localities actively promote mechanization of the planting stage. Strive to finish planting before February 25 according to the crop schedule.
