In order to strictly control small and spontaneous livestock and poultry slaughterhouses, the People's Committee of Dai Loc district has issued a Plan to arrange the management of small-scale slaughterhouses and control the centralized slaughter of animals in the district for the period 2024 - 2026. The district has also officially stopped small-scale slaughterhouses that do not ensure veterinary hygiene conditions from January 1, 2025.
According to Mr. Ho Ngoc Man - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, the district's agricultural sector is coordinating with localities to focus on implementing solutions to eliminate small, spontaneous slaughterhouses that do not meet conditions.
Strengthen and consolidate the steering committee for slaughter control, assign responsibilities to members, seriously inspect, review and resolutely close and punish slaughterhouses and slaughterhouses that violate veterinary hygiene regulations.
Mr. Truong Cam - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Ai Nghia Cooperative shared that for many years, the concentrated slaughterhouse of Dai Loc C area managed by the Cooperative has always maintained regular operations, but the supply of raw materials for operation is not much, the slaughter capacity is about 100 cattle/day and night. The situation of people and small traders slaughtering on a small scale in residential areas, not ensuring food hygiene and safety, and veterinary hygiene and safety is still common.
“The district’s slaughter control policy is very correct in order to limit epidemics and reduce environmental pollution from slaughter activities. The cooperative’s slaughterhouses are regularly staffed with veterinarians, who inspect and stamp them. The cooperative is also making efforts to upgrade its slaughterhouses to ensure the needs of livestock and poultry slaughter for people and small traders because the cooperative is a business,” said Mr. Cam.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quang - Director of Dai Loc District Agricultural Technical Center said that from January 1, 2025 onwards, the District People's Committee directed the establishment of interdisciplinary inspection teams to organize inspections and examinations of households that slaughter, trade, and sell animal products at markets.
The District People's Committee also directed the relevant departments and agencies to raise awareness among the people about the use of meat products from animals with slaughter control marks. The District Agricultural Technical Center also promoted propaganda and raised awareness among the people and CSGM owners about ensuring food safety and hygiene, veterinary safety, etc.
According to Mr. Ho Ngoc Man, to stop small-scale CSGM, we must strengthen inspection and examination at CSGM, and handle facilities that do not meet the conditions. Inter-sectoral inspection teams of communes/towns and districts must strengthen control at markets.
Traders who sell meat without inspection marks must be dealt with immediately. The district focuses on upgrading 3 centralized slaughterhouses in 3 areas A, B, C of the district, each facility is allocated 300 million VND to ensure serving the centralized slaughtering work.
