More than 4,000 participants in the Vietnam - Japan Cultural Festival 2024

On March 29, the Vietnam - Japan Cultural Festival and Youth Festival 2024 took place at Dong A University (Da Nang), attracting more than 4,000 participants.

The event was held with many unique cultural exchange activities to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations (1973-2024).

With many interwoven Vietnamese-Japanese cultural exchange activities taking place throughout the day, the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Festival and the 2024 Youth Festival of Dong A University are open to all students, high school students and residents in the city to learn about Japanese culture, people and language.

Folk games imbued with Vietnamese and Japanese traditions such as bamboo jumping, rope jumping, mandarin squares, sudoku puzzles, etc. are enthusiastically learned and participated in by students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Shimonishi Kiyoshi - Deputy Consul General of Japan in Da Nang City said that language is also a part of culture, so when learning a language, understanding the culture of that country is also very important. From this perspective, today's Vietnam - Japan cultural festival is a very meaningful event, helping to improve Japanese language skills through understanding Japanese culture.

Mr. Shimonishi Kiyoshi also expressed his joy that more and more Vietnamese students are studying Japanese, including many students studying Japanese at Dong A University, and hoped that these students would become a "bridge" for the relationship between Japan and Vietnam in the future.

According to Mr. Luong Minh Sam - Chairman of the Board of Dong A University, the festival will be an interesting "channel" for international exchange, creating opportunities for students, pupils and people of the city to learn and explore Japanese culture, people and language through a series of activities taking place throughout the day, effectively contributing to strengthening the cooperative and friendly relationship between the two countries. At the same time, from these diverse cultural and academic exchange activities, it will further promote the connection between people and love for the two countries.

At the festival, the Japanese-Vietnamese cultural space was vividly recreated with impressive performances from the Japanese art troupe and students of Dong A University. Among them, the cheerful yosakoi dance and the mashup performance "Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana" with an interesting combination of artists from the Japanese art troupe and students.

Thousands of festival participants also explored Japan through 6 interesting topics about cultural experiences, Japanese music and working skills in the Japanese business environment. Specific sharing about traditional Japanese culture and how to experience it; traditional Japanese music and why music helps rejuvenate the soul...

There are also folk games imbued with Vietnamese and Japanese traditions such as bamboo jumping, rope jumping, mandarin squares, sudoku puzzles, etc. that students are excited to learn and participate in.

Along with that are 14 booths introducing Vietnamese - Japanese culinary culture; recreating the unique Nagashi Somen Bamboo Noodle Festival space of Japan; flashmob contest with 50 competing teams performing together to typical Vietnamese and Japanese songs. Elaborate cosplay character performance with the participation of more than 100 students, high school students, Japanese artists and young people who love Japanese culture in Da Nang.

The Vietnam-Japan art program featured lively singing and dancing performances by talented high school students and Japanese art troupes. The most impressive part was the colorful and graceful reenactment of the sweet wedding scene of Princess Ngoc Hoa (Anio) and merchant Araki Sotaro in the 16th century, helping young people learn more about the "fate" that binds the strong relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
