The affected household is Mr. Phan Van Sy's family in Tung Luat village, raising fish in cages on Ben Hai river. The impact of the tropical depression on July 15 caused heavy and prolonged rain, water from upstream poured into Ben Hai river, causing 12 fish cages of Mr. Sy's family with more than 2.5 tons of fish that were ready for harvest such as grouper, sea bass, cobia, brown fish... to die of suffocation. Notably, 1,500 cobia had reached a weight of 1.5 - 2 kg, and would be sold in about a month.
To limit the damage, Mr. Sy's family had to sell cobia for only 80,000 - 110,000 VND/kg. As for other types of fish, Mr. Sy's family is continuing to collect statistics, and the local government is actively supporting the family to overcome the damage.
