On May 23, the heat wave ended in the Northeast. The provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La and the area from Nghe An to Phu Yen were hot, with some places experiencing severe heat with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 34-37 degrees Celsius, some places above 37 degrees Celsius, and the lowest relative humidity commonly ranging from 40-65%. On May 24, the heat wave ended in these areas.

According to the meteorological agency, the impact of the compressed low pressure trough combined with wind convergence above 1,500m caused showers and scattered thunderstorms in the North and Thanh Hoa from the night of May 22-23, with locally heavy rain with rainfall from 20-40mm/24h, in some places over 60mm/24h.

From the evening of May 23-24, the area from Nghe An to Thua Thien Hue will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally moderate rain, heavy rain with rainfall from 10-30mm/24h, in some places over 50mm/24h.

In addition, due to the influence of the Southwest monsoon, in the afternoon and evening of May 22, the Central Highlands, the South and the southern region of the South Central Coast will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally moderate rain, heavy rain with rainfall from 20-40mm, some places over 60mm.

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flooding in low-lying areas.
