RCEP is an agreement consisting of 15 member countries, including 10 ASEAN countries and 5 partner countries: China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand signed on November 15, 2020 and officially took effect from January 1, 2022.

Despite its large coverage, RCEP member countries participate in many other trade agreements. At the same time, due to its later establishment, the rate of preferential utilization from RCEP has not yet reached the desired level.

Meanwhile, RCEP also has strengths that other FTAs do not have. RCEP is not simply a new agreement but a consolidation and expansion of previous FTAs, helping to simplify regulations and create a unified trade area, connecting regional FTAs together, creating a larger and more connected economic space... Therefore, the workshop is a good opportunity for Dak Lak authorities and businesses to learn more deeply and clearly about the RCEP Agreement. Thereby raising awareness for State management agencies as well as supporting the business community to exploit and make the most of the benefits that RCEP brings to the export of goods of Dak Lak province.

Ms. Nguyen Viet Chi - Deputy Director of the Multilateral Trade Policy Department - said that the workshop is part of a series of activities of the Multilateral Trade Policy Department to disseminate information and commitments of the RCEP Agreement, and implement the RCEP Agreement implementation plan issued by the Minister of Industry and Trade. The workshop contributes to supporting state management agencies as well as associations and enterprises in the province to better understand the commitments in the RCEP Agreement and the opportunities and challenges that the Agreement poses for their fields of operation, thereby being able to effectively exploit the benefits brought by the Agreement.
