Sports festival to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army in Cambodia

From December 5-15, the Party Committee in Cambodia organized a sports festival to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, with nearly 80 cadres, civil servants, public employees, party members, and people from the Party Committee participating.

From December 5-15, the Party Committee in Cambodia organized a sports festival to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).

Speaking at the sports festival, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang, Secretary of the Party Committee in Cambodia, emphasized the great significance of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army to the country's history, saying that the growth and achievements of the Vietnam People's Army since its inception have always been closely associated with great victories in the nation's revolutionary cause.

In that spirit, the Party Committee in Cambodia organized a sports festival with the participation of nearly 80 cadres, civil servants, officials, party members, and people of the Party Committee in Cambodia, including branches of the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​agencies affiliated to the Embassy, ​​the Vietnamese student association in Cambodia, and a number of businesses such as the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (Agribank) in Cambodia.

Officials and party members of the Cambodian Party Committee participated in competitions in three sports: badminton, tennis, and chess.

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang highlighted the purpose of the sports festival to encourage cadres and party members of the Party Committee in Cambodia to enthusiastically participate in physical exercise and sports, improve their health to excellently complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State and agencies; at the same time, create a friendly, healthy, united and cohesive sports exchange environment within the Party Committee.

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang stated: “Through the sports festival, it contributes to strengthening the connection between the Embassy and neighboring agencies, businesses, units, and Party cells in our Party Committee. Through that, all cadres and Party members in the Party Committee will strengthen close, intimate relationships, exchanges, and sharing in life and work.”

Taking place in the grounds of the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh, this sports festival was exciting with exciting, dramatic and attractive matches. With the spirit of enthusiastic and honest competition, the matches within the framework of the sports festival brought the audience fierce competition with exciting football matches, mind-boggling chess games...

On the evening of December 15, the closing ceremony of the sports festival celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army in Cambodia was held at the hall of the Vietnamese Embassy in the capital Phnom Penh.

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented awards and medals to outstanding individuals and groups, winning prizes in each sport to honor and encourage the spirit of athletes participating in the sports festival.

On this occasion, the Party Committee in Cambodia awarded Certificates of Merit to 8 students of the Vietnamese Military Student Group in Cambodia, under the Defense Attaché Party Cell in Cambodia, for their outstanding achievements in Party building work of the Defense Attaché Party Cell in 2024.

Within the framework of the series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day in Cambodia, under the direction of the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​in recent days, the Vietnamese Defense Attaché Office has implemented a series of meaningful activities such as organizing meetings, visiting, and presenting gifts to veteran cadres; launching a contest to learn about the topic of the Vietnam People's Army and the National Defense; organizing sports exchanges with the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, exchanges between the Vietnamese military student delegation and international students in Cambodia...

In particular, on December 12, in the capital Phnom Penh, a series of meaningful activities took place such as organizing a visit to the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument, meeting former students of the Royal Cambodian Army studying in Vietnam for the second time, and a solemn reception to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day./.
