In the context of the medical and pharmaceutical industry constantly innovating and developing, improving the quality of training has become the top priority in the system of medical and pharmaceutical colleges and universities. At the same time, new challenges in health care, advanced medical technology and community needs require constant updating and improvement of training programs along with teaching and learning methods to increasingly improve the quality of training in the health sector. This scientific conference is an opportunity to discuss together, find solutions and propose more effective training models and methods.

The scientific conference heard leading researchers, lecturers, and experts in the field of medical and pharmaceutical training in Vietnam and abroad report their contributions, new discoveries, practical experiences and questions and answers on the following topics: Overview of current nursing training; International cooperation in improving the quality of future nursing training; Management of community teaching and learning at Savannakhet College of Health Sciences, Laos; Satisfaction, confidence and experience when practicing simulation at Duy Tan University; Development of a method for determining priorities for the SPS model for nursing students, designed for family and community nursing practice; Transforming nursing training for the post-COVID-19 era in the US; Evidence-based nursing practice and the impact of technology 4.0; Development of a training platform in the subject of community nursing practice; Perceptions of full-time nursing students on the application of clinical simulation practice teaching at Dai Viet Saigon College in 2023. These are valuable experiences for colleges and universities to develop and innovate the quality of medical training in the future.

An overview of current nursing training presented by Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Phuong, Head of the International Training Department, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said: In Vietnam, the current ratio of doctors and nurses is 0.8 doctors per 1,000 people; 1.1 nurses per 1,000 people, many times lower than the standards of the World Health Organization and other countries. The target of having 25 nurses per 10,000 people set by our country is very difficult to achieve.

This is also a job and training opportunity for the health sciences industry, including nursing. Regarding nursing human resources, Vietnam has about 133,000 nurses; of which 40% are bachelors and postgraduates, 30% are college graduates, and 30% are intermediate level. The priority of the Vietnamese nursing industry is language training and the ability to adapt to future medicine and international integration.

Regarding the orientation of medical and pharmaceutical training in the coming time, Vietnam focuses on innovating nursing training programs based on professional practice capacity; organizing nursing practice capacity assessment tests by the National Medical Council to grant practice certificates, aiming to integrate with the region and the world. Promoting joint training programs, exchange of study and work with countries with developed healthcare to improve the capacity and position of Vietnamese nurses. International cooperation in improving the quality of nursing training.

The 1st International Scientific Conference in 2024 with the theme "Improving the quality of medical and pharmaceutical training in colleges and universities in the ASEAN region" is an opportunity to build a network to exchange ideas and information with each other as well as promote the exchange of knowledge and progress in different scientific fields, creating opportunities for future research and training cooperation.
