At the Consultation Workshop on strategic orientation to support women in starting a business in the period of 2026-2035 organized by the Vietnam Women's Union, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of the Vietnam Digital Economy Cooperative Union - proposed that the Vietnam Women's Union should submit a mechanism to the Women's Unions of provinces with funds to support women in starting a business, avoiding the integration of resources when deploying and implementing the Project to Support Women in Starting a Business.
Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of the Vietnam Digital Economy Cooperative Union - gave comments to the drafting team to develop the Project "Supporting women to start businesses in the period 2026-2035" on the contents related to the vision, goals, objects, and proposals for implementing the Project.
Specifically, in terms of vision , according to Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh, 10 years is a suitable period of time to evaluate whether a startup model or project is effective or not. Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh cited that, in reality, after about 3 years, up to 90% of startup projects fail; and after 5-10 years of starting a business, it begins to reap success.
The next 10 years will also be the time for domestic enterprises to respond to issues of digital transformation, green transformation, and catch up with market development. Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh also explained that for enterprises, digital transformation is to improve management efficiency, green transformation is to ensure sustainable development, and responsibility to the environment and community.
Regarding the model of supporting women to start a business, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh, capital is one of the needs that need to be met. Therefore, he suggested that the Vietnam Women's Union should ask the government to support loan packages with suitable interest rates specifically for women to start a business, with low-interest loan packages to support women starting a business in difficult areas.
To effectively support women in starting businesses in the next phase, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh also advised and proposed that the Vietnam Women's Union should have connections and circulars in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to present a mechanism for provincial Women's Unions to have funds to support women in starting businesses, avoiding the integration of resources when deploying and implementing the Project to support women in starting businesses.
With capacity building activities for women entrepreneurs , Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh proposed to clearly distinguish the beneficiaries of the project; have specialized training programs in various professions for members and women; organize specialized training for female officials and members at all levels such as provincial and regional levels, so that women can participate in production, business and sales chains. In particular, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Quang Vinh also hopes that women entrepreneurs will be guided by the hand, guided on specific ways to produce, do business, and earn revenue from their startup projects.
In addition, the Women's Union at all levels also needs to support digital transformation, green transformation, communication, market promotion, and support newly established cooperatives with policies specifically for these subjects.
On the morning of December 3, 2024, the Vietnam Women's Union organized a consultation workshop on strategic orientations to support women in starting businesses for the period 2026-2035 to identify goals, tasks and solutions to support women in starting businesses to meet the requirements in the new situation.
The workshop was attended by representatives of ministries, branches, experts, startup consultants, organizations and units accompanying the Vietnam Women's Union, women entrepreneurs and representatives of the Women's Union at all levels.
The valuable information and useful sharing of the workshop will be an important basis for the Vietnam Women's Union to continue researching and adjusting solutions and activities to support and promote women's startups in an increasingly innovative and creative direction, keeping up with the strong development of science and technology, digital transformation, green transformation, and sustainable development of the country.
