Concentrating efforts to speed up the construction progress of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant project

Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant (TPP) project is one of the key source projects of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). The project has a total investment of VND 42,022 billion, and was started in December 2021 with 2 units with a total capacity of 1,403 MW.

When completed and put into operation, the plant is expected to provide an average annual electricity output of about 8.4 billion kWh, contributing to ensuring energy security for the national power system.

According to a report from the Power Project Management Board 2 (EVNPMB2), the project is progressing smoothly and on schedule with effective coordination between the investor, contractor and consulting and design units.

Up to this point, many items of the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project have achieved implementation results from 80% to nearly 100%. Of which, EPC package No. 15 on design, goods supply and construction has reached nearly 86%; cumulative design work has reached 99.06%; procurement work has reached 95.15%.

With the construction work, the basic items have been completed: the foundation, the body of the turbine house; boiler; transformer; chimney; coal warehouse, water treatment area or the foundation treatment of the cooling water pipe system...

The technological items are approaching the "finish line" with the main steel structure of boiler No. 1 reaching 94%; the furnace body reaching 91%; the crusher installed 95%, the air heater (GAH) installed 90%...

Along with the construction work, focusing resources to speed up progress, Mr. Do Thanh Tai, Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board 2 (EVNPMB2) emphasized that the construction site always focuses on safety work. Power Project Management Board 2 regularly conducts risk assessments before implementing construction items, high-risk jobs such as working at height, welding, or operating heavy equipment... At the same time, EVNPMB2 also strengthens inspections at the construction site, promotes propaganda measures to workers. To date, the project has achieved 10 million safe working hours.

Mr. Pham Duc Ngoc, Director of the Executive Board of Construction Corporation No. 1, said that with an overall progress of 85.48%, the project is gradually moving towards completion with upcoming important milestones such as: Receiving reverse electricity on March 31, 2025 and first oil burning on August 30, 2025.

To ensure progress in this crucial phase, the contractor has mobilized additional workers, engineers and modern equipment to speed up the progress of the items. On average, each day, the project has more than 3,500 engineers and workers along with 150 machines and equipment participating in the construction.

In the coming time, the contractor will continue to work continuously day and night to speed up the progress, especially the items in the "critical path" of the project. The contractor is also proactively and flexibly dividing the project into small phases for effective implementation.

At the same time, prioritize important items such as boiler installation, turbine and piping system to ensure overall progress. In each implementation stage, always strengthen close supervision, ensure the project meets progress, quality and labor safety.

Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project is getting closer to the goal of completing oil burning and synchronizing unit 1 in 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister.
