The Spring Calligraphy Festival of At Ty 2025 at the Temple of Literature officially opens to welcome the New Year

(CLO) The Spring Calligraphy Festival of At Ty 2025 has just officially opened at the special national relic of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi), lasting until February 9.


Accordingly, the Spring Calligraphy Festival of At Ty 2025 will take place from February 23 to February 9 (ie December 24, Giap Thin year to January 12, At Ty year).

On January 28th (29th day of Tet), the Spring Calligraphy Festival opens to welcome the New Year until 2am the next morning. On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd days of Tet, it opens until 10pm.

The Spring Calligraphy Festival 2025 is organized by the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam in coordination with other units.

According to Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam Le Xuan Kieu, following the success of previous years, the Spring Calligraphy Festival of At Ty 2025 will take place at Ho Van space.

47 calligraphy activists in two types of Han Nom and Quoc Ngu in Hanoi and some localities in the three regions of North - Central - South were carefully selected through objective and fair examinations to serve the public with correctly and beautifully written calligraphy and calligraphy with many good wishes in the new spring.

Along with calligraphy activities, the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam organizes many cultural activities to serve spring visitors with 3 exhibitions: The calligraphy exhibition "Real learning" displays 100 works of Han Nom and Quoc Ngu calligraphy. The content of the works introduces literary works about Thang Long - Hanoi and the quintessence of ancient knowledge.

The photo exhibition “My Homeland Vietnam” introduces 50 heritage photography works selected from the “Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards 2012-1018”.

The photos capture impressive moments of Vietnam's cultural heritage, nature and people.

The exhibition “Drawing the Snake” offers a diverse perspective on the snake - the mascot of the New Year of the Snake - in tradition and modernity.

The exhibition introduces 77 illustrations by 75 Vietnamese artists living in many countries around the world, bringing interesting and positive stories about this zodiac animal.

In addition, the Spring Calligraphy Festival also attracts tourists with the activity of asking for calligraphy at the beginning of the year at 47 tents of calligraphy activists carefully selected through objective and fair selection, along with many unique cultural programs such as: Heritage education, reading culture space, display of craft village products, folk games, chess, lion dance; traditional art performances (quan ho, ca tru, cheo...) at Noi Tu area, Giam garden and Ho Van.

On the opening day, the Spring Calligraphy Festival At Ty 2025 attracted locals and tourists with calligraphy performances by "calligraphers" on stage.

The impressive point for tourists when visiting the Spring Calligraphy Festival is the 18 columns of letters around the exhibition space written in Chinese calligraphy with the content of the article "Khuyến học văn" (literature encouraging learning) by Emperor Thuan Hoang Le Thanh Tong - a great author of ancient and medieval Vietnamese literature.

Next are 14 large calligraphy panels hanging horizontally above, written in many scripts such as Seal, Le, Chan, Hanh Thao, both Han and Nom with contents about studying and examinations at the Temple of Literature. The calligraphy booths of 47 calligraphy activists are neatly arranged, brightly colored with spring colors around Ho Van.

The Spring Calligraphy Festival is one of the outstanding activities of Hanoi city during the New Year, creating an attractive cultural and entertainment space for people and tourists during the Lunar New Year.
