Hanoi tourism businesses say no to plastic waste

Kinhtedothi - On March 14, the Hanoi Department of Tourism coordinated with the Hanoi Unesco Travel Club to organize a survey program, link cooperation in tourism development and launch environmental protection, promote sustainable tourism in Duong Lam Ancient Village (Son Tay town) in 2025.


The program aims to support travel businesses in surveying and connecting with tourist destinations in Son Tay town to build new tours and tourist routes.

An important highlight of the program was the launching ceremony and the erection of a propaganda board “Tourism businesses join hands to protect the environment: Say no to plastic waste” at Duong Lam Ancient Village (Son Tay town). Here, delegates, members of the Hanoi Unesco Travel Club and local people participated in collecting waste and cleaning up the environment.

Chairman of the Hanoi Unesco Travel Club Truong Quoc Hung shared that through organizing this activity, the Hanoi tourism industry has created opportunities for Hanoi travel businesses and local service providers to meet, exchange, share experiences, and coordinate to develop green tourism products.

Representative of a company specializing in bringing Korean tourists to Vietnam, Director of Seotai Travel Company (Korea) Kim Sang Hoon informed that in the near future, Duong Lam Ancient Village will be included in the company's tour to spread the unique cultural features of this village to more tourists from the land of Kim Chi.

Sharing at the launching ceremony, Chairman of the UNESCO Hanoi Association Truong Minh Tien said that this is a meaningful activity in the context that waste in general and plastic waste in particular is a world problem.

From the perspective of the management agency, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said that this event contributes to spreading the message of "green" tourism, raising awareness of environmental protection and landscape preservation to travel businesses, tourists, communities and people.

Thereby, the program contributes to expanding "green" destinations in the capital, while joining hands with the sustainable development of Vietnam's tourism industry.
