Dak Lak Yearbook photos of 12th grade students inspired by 11 famous literary and cinematic works, making many people excited.
The photo series went viral online a few days ago, attracting thousands of likes and shares.
In the photo, 12th grade students majoring in Literature-History-Geography, Nguyen Du High School for the Gifted, Buon Ma Thuot City, transformed into characters in 11 literary and cinematic works, including The Tale of Kieu , A Phu's Wife , Chi Pheo , Red Fate , Picked Up Wife , Tat Den , Tam Cam , Blue Eyes, I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass , You and Trinh , and Co Ba Sai Gon .
Huynh Nguyen Gia Huyen, the class monitor, said the photo series was conceived last year with the aim of recording memories of their school years, and was also a gift for their homeroom teacher - the person who inspired and gave them a passion for literature. The time from when they started to when they finished was 4 months.
"We didn't expect to be received like this. Apart from a few comments criticizing the actress for not being as pretty as the character, most people liked her and commented positively. Everyone was very happy and had memorable memories," Huyen said.

According to Huyen, because it is a social science class, during the learning process, students are exposed to and study in depth many literary and dramatic works. In addition to the common form of presentation, students also often write scripts and perform some works.
Last December, the whole class discussed and agreed on the idea for the yearbook photo shoot, then came up with a script, assigned roles, and prepared costumes.
After the first semester exams and preparing for Tet holiday, the photo shoot was started. Huyen said that at first the class planned to choose 5-6 works, but because there were 37 members, they decided to increase it to 11. The list of stories and films as well as the roles of each member were proposed by the class representative committee and then received their opinions.
The role assignment is based on each student's physique and demeanor. If anyone finds it unreasonable, they will make adjustments. Next, the whole class chooses a few typical scenes from each work, such as the story of Kieu with the scene of Thuy Kieu and Thuy Van going out in spring; Thuy Kieu and Thuy Van meeting Kim Trong; the two sisters exchanging fate or Thuy Kieu serving tea to Hoan Thu... Each female student appears in one scene, while the 8 male students will take turns playing 2-3 scenes.
The class also took into account that the photo series might be shared online, so some characters were altered to ensure their appearance was neat. For example, with the character Thi No, the female character playing this role was good-looking, without blackening her teeth or wearing ugly makeup like the familiar image of this character.
The most difficult part is preparing costumes to suit the context of the work.
"Buon Ma Thuot City also has few of these services, so it's hard to find the desired items, sometimes they are just for illustration purposes. Therefore, the work in the photo is not exactly the same as our original idea," Huyen said.
Finally, the whole class spent a day taking pictures, choosing three locations close to each other for convenience, including the coffee village, Bao Dai palace, and fields and stilt houses in Ea Kao commune.
"At first, the students were shy in front of the camera. However, everyone understood that time was short and they couldn't take the same photo over and over again, so they cooperated and were excited," Huyen said, adding that the hardest part was taking the scene of the work I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass . Because they couldn't find a grassland as a backdrop, they had to choose a rice field that they could wade into.
"The photo was taken in the middle of the hot noon, the water in the rice fields was scorching hot. The actors were also afraid of leeches but had to try because once they accepted the role, they had to take responsibility," Huyen shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tang, homeroom teacher of the 12th grade Literature-History-Geography class, supported the idea of a yearbook photo album with a Literature theme. She suggested that students should choose characters and literary works that have a positive impact on their lives and thoughts, and avoid offensive details.
According to Ms. Tang, students should have the right to create and receive works according to their own thinking, as long as they do not go against the value of the work or social ethical standards. Transforming into characters in literary works or famous movies cannot avoid conflicting opinions. However, this is also an effective way to learn Literature, bringing the work closer to life.
Looking at the gifts her students completed, she deeply felt their affection for her. Ms. Tang believes that the photo series was well received because it was unique, not following the beaten path, true to the nature of students majoring in Literature, and showed the relationship between literature and life; between literature and children's souls, close and practical, not distant and bookish as adults think.
At first, she was concerned about the male student playing Trinh Cong Son in the film Em va Trinh cam dieu thuoc, thinking it was not appropriate for students. But overall, she felt that this reenactment accurately reflected the musician's habits.
"I am satisfied with this yearbook because it is as expected. You are smart, dare to have ideas, dare to do things and are supported by parents and teachers," said Ms. Tang.
