(Dan Tri) - Midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc's only goal helped Ninh Binh Club beat host Khanh Hoa 1-0 in the opening match of the 2024-2025 National First Division on the evening of October 26.

In the 87th minute, Hoang Duc jumped high to receive a cross from the left wing, headed the ball into the far corner, defeating Khanh Hoa goalkeeper Vo Ngoc Cuong. The captain of Ninh Binh Club immediately took off his shirt to celebrate and received a yellow card from referee Dang Quoc Dung.

Although playing away, Ninh Binh Club still dominated the game. However, the home team Khanh Hoa always showed danger in counter-attack situations.

Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam also contributed greatly, with many excellent saves. Most notably, at the beginning of the second half, Van Lam dove to block a long-range shot from his opponent, then quickly got up to block two consecutive shots from Le Ngoc Hai.

Coach Nguyen Viet Thang of Ninh Binh Club was restless throughout the match, as his team was stuck in front of the opponent's large defense. Hoang Duc's only goal brought 3 valuable points for Ninh Binh Club and helped his team temporarily lead the First Division after the opening round.

In round 2 of the 2024-2025 National First Division, Ninh Binh Club will return home and welcome the visiting team Long An on November 3.
