(Dan Tri) - In the context of U17 Indonesia actively passing back and forth in the home field to keep the score tied against U17 Australia, coach Nova Arianto admitted to feeling embarrassed.
In the final round of the U17 Asian qualifiers, U17 Indonesia drew 0-0 with U17 Australia. This result helped the team from the archipelago win a ticket to the U17 Asian finals as one of the 5 best second-place teams.

Indian public opinion (the team eliminated due to the result of U17 Indonesia) as well as Indonesian fans have been constantly criticizing the team's playing style. From the 60th minute onwards, U17 Indonesia almost only "played ghost football" with back and forth passes in the home field aiming for a draw.
Negiashish wrote on Twitter: "India U17 team could have decided their own destiny but we depended on the result of the match between Indonesia U17 and Australia U17. In the end, we saw Indonesia U17 play shamefully."
Speaking after the match, Indonesia U17 coach Nova Arianto admitted feeling embarrassed by his team's performance. However, the important thing is that Indonesia U17 achieved their goal.

Coach Nova Arianto said: "Regarding the match, honestly, I feel ashamed of the way Indonesia U17 played. But that is something we have to accept for the ticket to the U17 Asian finals.
I understand that a draw is all it takes for U17 Indonesia to advance. Therefore, I feel very awkward when U17 Australia has superior player quality. We accept to play defensively and wait for the opportunity to counterattack.
And the unexpected happened when U17 Australia also played defensively. They did not attack so we had to stay at home and wait. When U17 Australia attacked, Indonesia counterattacked.
I feel ashamed but if we lose we will be eliminated. So I have to bear the shame and not put pressure on the players. That is not right. The players on the pitch feel the same."
It should be added that U17 Vietnam also actively "played ghost football" like that to hold U17 Yemen to a draw in the match last night. That helped us win a ticket to the final round of the U17 Asian Cup.
The 2025 AFC U17 Championship will take place from April 3, 2025 in Saudi Arabia. Notably, 8/16 participating teams will qualify for the U17 World Cup. This opens up a great opportunity for U17 Vietnam and U17 Indonesia to participate in the world-class tournament.
