Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 has a total length of more than 76km, passing through 4 localities including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Long An provinces. The section passing through Ho Chi Minh City alone is 47.5km long, with a total investment of more than 41,000 billion VND.
The section of Ring Road 3 passing through Thu Duc City has taken shape, of which a section passing through Vinhomes Grand Park residential area has completed many main items.
According to a survey by Dan Tri reporters, the construction unit is speeding up the progress of the Ring Road 3 project. Workers are working enthusiastically, regardless of the hot weather, to bring the project to the finish line on time.
One of the other main routes leading to Vinhomes Grand Park urban area, Le Van Viet Street, also had plans to expand and upgrade some sections of the route in the 2016-2020 period.
In particular, the section from Le Van Viet intersection with Tran Hung Dao extending to La Xuan Oai intersection is about 1.4km long, the road surface is about 8m, and has not been widened compared to the rest of this route (30m). Therefore, the narrow bottleneck road often experiences overload and congestion during rush hour, making it difficult for people to move.
Similar to Le Van Viet Street, La Xuan Oai Street, which connects to many other important traffic routes of Thu Duc City, is also often overloaded and congested. This route is about 6km long, with a road surface of only about 8m wide, quite narrow compared to the large traffic volume.
La Xuan Oai Street is expanded from Le Van Viet intersection to D2 intersection (Vo Chi Cong), expected to be completed by the end of this year.
However, since its commencement, many sections have not been able to be implemented due to incomplete site clearance and cost overruns. The project remains unfinished.
Another road near the 160ha new urban area is Lo Lu Road, which is seriously degraded. Although Ho Chi Minh City has approved the upgrading and expansion of Lo Lu Road, this project has remained "inactive" for the past 4 years. The total investment for the project to upgrade and expand Lo Lu Road is 755 billion VND with a length of about 2km.
This route is a branch road connecting two important roads of Thu Duc City: Nguyen Xien, Nguyen Duy Trinh, La Xuan Oai, Tang Long bridge area and Ho Chi Minh City high-tech park. According to the plan, Lo Lu road will be upgraded and expanded from 6m to 30m.
Next to the 160ha urban area, Nguyen Duy Trinh Street also has a plan to expand but has not been finalized for many years. This road is narrow and often congested due to heavy traffic.
Ho Chi Minh City has changed its investment policy many times, but so far, the project has not been able to expand, due to issues of investment costs, site clearance compensation, and resettlement support.
The traffic system in Thu Duc City is facing many challenges, but also opens up opportunities for future traffic infrastructure development projects.
To ensure sustainable development for urban areas, Ho Chi Minh City is making efforts to improve the transportation system, thereby creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development and improving the quality of life for people.
