Coach Rangnick rescues Dortmund?

Rangnick intends to leave the Austrian team.

Borussia Dortmund are having a difficult season, despite reaching the Champions League quarter-finals. In the Bundesliga, the Ruhr club has dropped to 11th place in the rankings, far from a place in next season's Champions League.

Dortmund's top brass is in chaos right now. Just over six months after appointing Sven Mislintat as sporting director, Dortmund had to fire his former boss. On the coaching side, after Nuri Sahin was fired, Dortmund brought in Niko Kovac to take the "hot seat" on an 18-month contract.

With Dortmund in dire need of a big-time shake-up, Ralf Rangnick is a name that has been put forward. According to Bild , the current Austrian coach could join the club as sporting director.

Rangnick could replace Kehl in the summer. The former MU captain is currently unhappy with his role as head coach of the Austrian national team due to a conflict with the leaders of the country's Football Association.

Previously, in the winter, he was also considered by Dortmund for the position of coach to replace Nuri Sahin. The former Leipzig sporting director is highly regarded for his ability to build a squad, and he is also ready to take on a similar role at Dortmund. Rangnick is even capable of holding both the positions of coach and sporting director.
