Laos coach: "I am impressed by the strength of the Vietnamese team"

(Dan Tri) - The Laos team suffered a 0-5 defeat to the Vietnam team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers at Binh Duong Stadium on the evening of March 25. After the match, coach Ha Hyeok Jun acknowledged the overwhelming strength of the home team.

Regarding the Lao team's plans for the upcoming period, the Korean strategist said: "The average age of the Lao team is around 21-22. I did not prepare much for the opening match of the Asian Cup qualifiers against the Vietnamese team.

I always choose the best players, even if they are young. This is what I did in the recent AFF Cup, our squad was among the youngest in the tournament."

Finally, coach Ha Hyeok Jun commented on the strength of the Vietnamese team: "From the first day I arrived in Laos, I knew the big gap between Lao football and Vietnam as well as other developed football countries. I am still working to solve that problem.

This time we have less than 10 days to prepare for the Asian Cup qualifiers. I always want to reduce the gap between Laos and Vietnamese and Thai football. We still have time to prepare for the upcoming SEA Games."

Against the underdog Laos team, the Vietnamese team did not take long to dominate the game. In the 11th minute, Chau Ngoc Quang opened the scoring with a close-range shot. At the end of the first half, Van Vi doubled the lead with a header after Hai Long's long-range shot.

In the second half, coach Kim Sang Sik's team continued to dominate and in the 50th minute, Van Vi completed his double, raising the score to 3-0 after a shot from outside the penalty area. Hai Long also left his mark with a left-footed shot from outside the penalty area in the 63rd minute, helping the Vietnamese team lead 4-0.

The home team's impressive victory was concluded in the 84th minute with a beautiful close-range volley from Quang Hai. With a big 5-0 win over Laos, the Vietnamese team had a perfect start in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
