The Tra Khuc 3 bridge project across the Tra Khuc River has a total investment of 850 billion VND, of which 525 billion VND comes from the central budget and the rest comes from the Quang Ngai provincial budget. |
The project is invested by the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, started at the end of 2022 and is expected to be completed before March 2025. |
Tra Khuc 3 Bridge has a total route length of 2.55km, of which the bridge section is more than 708m long and the approach road is more than 1.8km long. |
According to the design, Tra Khuc 3 bridge has 15 spans, the bridge deck is 22.9m wide with the upper structure including 3 concrete-filled steel tube arch spans and 12 U-beam approach spans, 38m long, made of prestressed reinforced concrete. |
After completion, Tra Khuc 3 Bridge will play an extremely important role in connecting traffic between the western area of Tu Nghia district and the center of Son Tinh district (Quang Ngai province). Not only that, when the bridge is put into operation, it will connect traffic to two important routes: National Highway 24B and Provincial Road 623B. |
According to the reporter's records, although Quang Ngai is entering the rainy season, the construction work at Tra Khuc 3 Bridge is still being organized vigorously by the contractor with the determination to basically complete it for technical traffic opening by the end of this year. |
Up to now, the project construction progress has reached about 90%, with a cumulative total of 625/716 billion VND. The disbursement of capital assigned in 2024 alone is about 72/210 billion VND. |
Currently, the project's biggest problem is compensation and site clearance (GPMB). Accordingly, the northern part of the project is still stuck with the family of Mr. Huynh Ngoc K., representing the heirs of Mrs. Nguyen Thi L.'s family, with an area of over 1,000m2 within the construction area of the approach road connecting Tra Khuc 3 bridge in Son Tinh district. |
In the past, although the Son Tinh district government and the investor have made many efforts to remove obstacles, there are still some subjective and objective shortcomings such as the new regulations on compensation, site clearance, and resettlement support, and the application of "new or old" is still difficult. |

Mr. Ngo Van Dung - Director of the Quang Ngai Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that in order for the project to be basically completed in 2024, to be accepted and handed over in 2025 and to have a welcome sign for the 21st Provincial Party Congress, the site clearance work must be completed early. |
“To do this, in the coming time, Son Tinh district needs to be more drastic in resolving land acquisition issues. In case households do not agree to hand over the land, consider applying necessary measures to reclaim the land and hand over the clean land in December,” Mr. Dung suggested. |
It is known that Tra Khuc 3 bridge will be the 6th bridge across Tra Khuc river, after Tra Khuc 1, Tra Khuc 2, Thach Bich, Co Luy bridges, and the Da Nang – Quang Ngai expressway bridge. This is also the first steel arch bridge in Quang Ngai. |
