In the Literature class of grade 6, the “Flipped Classroom” model was applied, with the content of reading and understanding the text, the teacher assigned students to find out information related to the work in advance. During the lesson, students summarized the text, listed events and gave their feelings about the content and artistic value of the work. The teacher did not have to re-teach the knowledge in the lesson but only explained more clearly the content that the students gave.
Dinh Bao Ngoc, a 6D student at Bac Cuong Secondary School, said: "Before coming to class, I prepared information about the author of the lesson and the excerpt. After class, I realized that it would be good to study the lesson at home in advance and I would know more about the lesson."
Ms. Vu Thi Nhu, the school's Literature teacher, added: "With the "Flipped Classroom" method, the interaction between teachers and students, teachers and parents is very large. For example, from videos, lectures, and knowledge areas that teachers ask students to learn at home, parents can know where their children are studying, how far their children have studied, and accompany their children in the process of accessing knowledge."
Literature lessons using new methods help students understand the lesson faster.
Using graphic software in Fine Arts is also a new teaching method at Bac Cuong Secondary School. In the past, for each Fine Arts lesson, students had to prepare many learning materials. But now, with just a computer, students can experience art in a more vivid and interactive way.
Nguyen Tue Minh, a 6E student at Bac Cuong Secondary School, shared: "With just a computer, I can draw many pictures. Drawing on the computer is very interesting, I have more ideas, and can learn more about Fine Arts."
Applying information technology in teaching and learning helps improve the quality of learning for students.
Teacher Nguyen Xuan Huong, Principal of Bac Cuong Secondary School added: "New educational methods equip students with the skills to proactively approach knowledge and actively seek knowledge, so they are not bored; overcome some shortcomings and limitations of old educational methods, which is that students can be pressured during the learning process. When using new teaching methods, students can interact and exchange, so students are more motivated to learn."
The 2024-2025 school year is the first year that the 2018 General Education Program is implemented at all levels, completing the innovation cycle, requiring schools to continue to make efforts, be creative, and improve the quality of teaching and learning to meet the requirements of innovation and comprehensive education.
