Need to speed up construction progress of Ban Mong reservoir

On the morning of April 1, the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment's Supervisory Delegation, led by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - a full-time National Assembly Delegate, conducted a field survey of the implemented items of the Ban Mong reservoir construction project.

Accompanying the delegation were Ms. Thai Thi An Chung - Deputy Head of the Delegation - National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province and representatives of relevant Departments, Boards and branches.

The monitoring team surveyed the replacement forest planting location of the Ban Mong reservoir construction project in Thanh Huong commune, Thanh Chuong district.

Up to now, this location has planted nearly 90 ha/100 ha of replacement forest according to the plan. According to the report of the investors of replacement forest planting, the area that has been planted and accepted up to now is over 330 ha, reaching 61% of the allocation plan, 41% of the total area approved in principle to change the purpose of forest use to other purposes.

The delegation conducted a field survey of the resettlement area at slope 77 in Chau Binh commune.

In Quy Chau district, the delegation surveyed the resettlement area of slope 77 in Chau Binh commune. Currently, the construction of this resettlement area has been completed, however, the planning and design of the resettlement area need to be adjusted to suit the actual terrain.

In particular, it is necessary to speed up the construction of resettlement areas for relocation, and soon stabilize the lives of people before completing this important project. The province needs to focus on converting forest use purposes, quickly handling and recovering overlapping forest areas between districts and Song Hieu Agricultural Forestry Company; Requesting Management Board 4 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to clarify the reasons for the delay of some items of the project. The Provincial People's Committee also needs to report more clearly on the Chau Binh drainage canal item and the drainage canal components of the project; effectively implement the replacement forest planting program; Speed up the construction of production land reclamation areas for people affected by this project. Units, sectors and localities need to coordinate closely in the process of performing tasks to speed up progress and ensure the project is completed on schedule.
