On December 28, the Southern Ukraine Defense Forces issued a warning signal about the increased risk of missile attacks as Russia dispatched three ships equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles to the Black Sea.

RBC-Ukraine news site quoted the announcement of the joint press center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine as saying that the Russian Navy has put into operation three cruise missile-equipped ships with a total of at least 16 Kalibr missiles at the same time.
The announcement stated: “We recorded two submarines and the destroyer Admiral Makarov going to sea.”
Kiev does not rule out the possibility that Russia could target the Odessa port infrastructure and ports on the Danube not only with cruise missiles, but also with kamikaze UAVs.
The Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine also reminded units to be vigilant and respond quickly to dangerous warning signals in the air.
For a long time, Russia has not carried out missile strikes, but has only used Geran kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack Ukrainian military targets. However, the appearance of the above-mentioned group of ships has worried both the political and military elites of Kiev.
With the help of Western partners, Ukraine is closely monitoring the presence of this group of ships in the Black Sea.
In another development, on the same day, Reuters reported that Kiev and Budapest are working to prepare for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Information from the Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said that he had discussed with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto about organizing this meeting, and affirmed that both sides are making efforts so that the meeting can take place "in the near future".
This will be the first bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Orban and President Zelensky since Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. In the past two years, the two leaders have only met at international forums.
Relations between President Zelensky and Prime Minister Orban remain strained as Budapest repeatedly blocks EU efforts to provide financial aid to Kiev, as well as opposes any arms transfers to neighboring Ukraine, which is in conflict with Russia.
Prime Minister Orban also opposes Ukraine's membership in the EU and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). To date, Mr. Orban is one of the few EU leaders who has not made an official visit to Ukraine since the conflict began.
