Hanoi will host the 7th International Film Festival in November.

The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF VII) will take place from November 7 to 11 with the slogan: Cinema: Creativity - Take Off.

This is a meaningful and practical film event to celebrate the country's major holidays and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital. According to the organizers, the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival aims to introduce and honor outstanding international and Vietnamese cinema works to domestic and foreign cinema lovers; discover new talents of international and Vietnamese cinema; connect, exchange and cooperate for mutual development and cooperation between filmmakers, film distributors, Vietnamese and international film artists. HANIFF includes events such as: competition film program; non-competition film program; discussion program; opening program; closing program and award ceremony; coordinated activities. In particular, the competition film program is selected from cinemas around the world, including: competition feature film program; competition short film program; AFCNet Award Program (an honorary award given by the Asian Film Commissions Network to the best feature-length film from a member country). Non-competition film programs include: World Cinema Panorama; One Country Cinema Spotlight: "German Cinema" (aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations in 2025); Contemporary Vietnamese Film Program (including a number of films about Hanoi on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital) and introducing Vietnamese films produced from 2022 to 2024.

Within the framework of the activities taking place at the Film Festival, there are also 2 discussion programs on the topic of cinema. Discussion 1 with the theme "Spotlight on German Cinema" is scheduled to take place on November 8, with the content including lessons learned in film production of German cinema; How to exploit human, social and humanistic themes; analysis of creative multi-dimensional storytelling, current filmmaking trends of German cinema. Discussion 2 with the theme "Developing film production exploiting historical themes and adapting from literary works" will take place on November 9, including issues raised when adapting literary works to cinema; renewing the thinking of filmmakers when exploiting historical themes; solutions to enhance and develop film genres, international experience... The highlight of the Film Festival is the opening program including activities: The opening film screening takes place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on November 7 at the National Cinema Center, 87 Lang Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi; The red carpet program takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on November 7 in the lobby in front of the Hoan Kiem Theater, 40 Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi. The opening ceremony takes place from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on November 7 at the Hoan Kiem Theater, Hanoi and is broadcast live on VTV and HTV.
