(NLDO) - The General Secretary said that the Central Government has paid attention and had high expectations with many preferential and outstanding policies, mechanisms and policies for Da Nang.

On the morning of March 29, General Secretary To Lam attended the ceremony to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Da Nang City Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang City (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2025) at Tien Son Sports Palace.

Speaking at the ceremony, the General Secretary said that in the history of building and defending the country, Da Nang has always held an important position. The glorious victory to liberate Da Nang was a decisive attack that collapsed the strategy of the puppet army and government of Saigon, the Central and Southern regions, contributing significantly to the great victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, liberating the South and unifying the country.

The liberation day of Da Nang City on March 29, 1975 has gone down in history as a brilliant milestone, a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism.

The General Secretary said that for Da Nang, especially since becoming a centrally-governed city in 1997, the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang have made constant efforts to overcome difficulties. After 28 years of hard work and creativity, the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang have created a new face.

According to the General Secretary, Da Nang has also created a miracle on the Han River in Vietnam in socio-economic development with the 5-high model: high knowledge, high culture, high income, high governance and high living standards.

The most outstanding achievements of the city are planning, infrastructure development, urban space has been expanded many times, the city's appearance has completely changed and modernized.

According to the General Secretary, Da Nang City is facing new opportunities. The Central Government also has much interest and expectation with many preferential and outstanding policies, mechanisms and incentives.

The General Secretary suggested that Da Nang must become an international trade center, an attractive destination for investors and tourists, a place where talents and creative ideas converge, where tourism, ecological and cultural resources blend together to create appeal and unique identity.

To do the above, the city must focus on building a streamlined Party and political system that operates effectively, efficiently and friendly.

The General Secretary said that for Da Nang as well as other localities, the implementation of the policy of merging administrative units at all levels is a big and complicated issue and directly related to the interests of cadres, party members and people. This merging and arranging will create new space, resources and greater motivation for localities to develop in the future.

The General Secretary requested that Da Nang must be proactive in its mindset and conditions to ensure timely and effective implementation of the arrangement of administrative units at all levels as soon as there is an official policy from the Central Government. "Do not be passive or let interruptions affect the implementation of political tasks, especially in leadership, direction and administration" - the General Secretary emphasized.

The city needs to systematically and effectively implement the Central's resolutions, policies and orientations on building and developing Da Nang, propose to the Central to perfect institutions, issue policy mechanisms, and create new development space and motivation.

At the same time, promote economic growth models in depth, taking science - technology, innovation as the driving force and main resource for rapid and sustainable development, developing green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, night economy in emerging economic sectors and fields. It is necessary to identify the private economy as a strategy, a long-term policy, and the most important driving force for development today.

The General Secretary directed Da Nang to focus on mobilizing resources to invest in developing the city's key sectors. In particular, it is necessary to prioritize resources to build a regional financial center, Da Nang free trade zone... Building Da Nang into a growth pole of Vietnam and one of the cities with high competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific region.

Along with economic development, the Party Committee and the city government must pay special attention to the development of Da Nang's culture and people. In development investment, it is necessary to ensure sustainability in nature, build an environmental city, continue to implement well social security policies, care for people's lives, and combine with the city's own unique humanistic programs.

All policies and strategies must originate from the aspirations, legitimate interests and happiness of the people, aiming to make the city livable not only for the people but also for investors, talented people and the elite.

The General Secretary believes and has high expectations for the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang city to continue to unite, be of one mind and join forces, with a desire to contribute, with high political determination, turning difficulties into motivation, turning challenges into opportunities to comprehensively promote the cause of innovation and successfully complete the tasks set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 22nd City Party Congress.

On January 1, 1997, Da Nang City was separated from Quang Nam - Da Nang Province to become a new administrative unit directly under the Central Government. This event marked an important historical turning point.

The city's economy has grown quite well over the years. The average growth rate of the total social product in the area reached more than 9%/year. Compared to 1997, the economic scale increased by about 45 times; the budget revenue in the area increased by more than 25.6 times; the average income per capita increased by 21 times.
