According to the plan for implementing the 10th grade admission exam for the 2024-2025 school year, on July 10, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and specialized and non-specialized high schools that have not yet recruited enough students held a meeting to approve additional admission scores for grade 10.

However, high schools have received notices from the department to postpone the schedule for approving additional admission scores.

This information makes many parents and students who are a few points short of the standard score announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on July 1 "restless". Many people, although having submitted their applications to schools with second or third preferences or non-public schools, still hope that Hanoi will announce the high schools with lower standard scores so that they have a chance to pass their first choice to the school they have registered for and love.

On many groups for students and parents in Hanoi, the most asked question since yesterday, July 10, is "When will the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announce the additional benchmark scores?".

This morning, July 11, the leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training told Thanh Nien reporters that the Department has not yet held a meeting to approve additional admission scores for grade 10 and has not yet announced a tentative schedule for this work.

For many years now, Hanoi has decided to lower the admission scores for grade 10 for schools that have not yet met the enrollment quota assigned by the Department of Education and Training.

In 2023, 28 non-specialized public high schools and 3 specialized high schools in Hanoi will lower their admission scores for grade 10.

However, most of the 28 non-specialized high schools that lowered their admission scores are located in suburban areas, with a common decrease of 0.25 - 0.5 points compared to the initially announced admission scores. My Duc C High School lowered the most with 4 points (from 22 points to 18 points).

A few top high schools in the inner city in 2023 also reduced their admission scores for additional admission, including: Yen Hoa High School (reduced by 0.75 points), Chu Van An High School, Cau Giay High School both reduced by 0.25 points...

Hanoi Department of Education and Training stipulates that for public high schools, when lowering the admission score, the school is allowed to accept students with the second and third wishes who meet the admission requirements.

Students admitted to the second choice must have an admission score at least 1 point higher than the school's standard score, students admitted to the third choice must have an admission score at least 2 points higher than the school's standard score.

Students who are admitted to their first choice will not be considered for their second and third choices. Students who are not admitted to their first choice will be considered for their second choice. Students who are not admitted to their first and second choices will be considered for their third choice.

According to the previous schedule, from July 12 to 15, additional admitted students will complete admission procedures.
